It's been a hot minute since I've posted any snippets from On Summer Eves By Haunted Stream, the sequel to Whether it Be Dream or Truth (To Do Well Is What Matters), so have this short selection from chapter 12. (Which is more than six sentences, so it's not really Sunday Six, but that's how we're tagging it. 😅)
Below is the same text as in the image, for those unable to enjoy it in that format:
"No lobsters, I hope," Ann snapped as she hit the power button on her mobile, casting a sharp look between Yusuke and Goro's empty arms. "Akechi suggested I would be better served doing my sketches while they are in a habitat that is more comfortable for them, such as the aquarium," Yusuke said. "I did find it enjoyable to sketch animals at the zoo, so it is a reasonable point. Perhaps Ryuji would go with me again?" "Uh, the aquarium tends to be more of a...date location," Ann said. "Goro and I went as friends," Ren offered. Ann choked on a laugh, while Nakano snorted and Ohya raised both of her eyebrows. Goro cleared his throat and refused to meet anyone's eyes as he said, "I got free tickets from a co-worker." Ren smiled, sharp. "Yes," he said, "that's the lie you told me last time, too." He'd honestly only gone because he'd wanted to know what Goro's play was, and then he'd ended up being a little too charmed by the building. He'd gone back with Sumire, in January, but it had lacked a lot of the magic that he'd remembered, and he honestly couldn't say if that was more because of Maruki's attempts to make everything perfect, or because of who he'd been with.
Sunday Six
“Jim?”
“Yes?” Jim says, aiming for casual.
“Come here.”
He briefly considers refusing, then reluctantly turns and goes over, dragging his feet .
Moran puts two knuckles under Jim's chin and tilts his head up, studying him.
“And how long has this been going on exactly?” Moran asks after a moment, sounding a little irritated.

Chapter 1 - Turning the Page, Book 2
Choices, The Royal Romance AU
King Liam Rys x F!MC Riley Brooks
From the tall arched window of his third-floor study, King Liam Rys gazed down at the courtyard below, where his five-year-old son chased two black lab puppies, Riley’s laughter bright and full beside him.
The sight drew a rare, unguarded smile from Liam—his carefully planned surprise had brought joy to the two people he loved most.
For a brief moment, the world beyond that courtyard ceased to matter; duty, politics, and the endless whispers of court faded into nothing.
Then came a soft knock at the door—measured, deliberate.
“Welcome home, Your Majesty,” Olivia’s voice purred as she stepped inside, her poise impeccable, her eyes unreadable.
Liam turned slowly, sensing the warmth of her greeting hid something colder beneath—the kind of motive only a woman who had once shared his secrets would carry.

Sunday Six!
“Somehow,” Sherlock drawled, “I don’t think I’m the one who’s going to be risking arrest…” He leaned forward and snatched the dark wig and sunglasses from the woman’s head and face. “Kitty Riley.”
“What? Don’t you dare touch me! I’ll have you up for battery!”

"I didn't think you liked Tevraki," Luke commented as he let them into his apartment and headed for the tiny kitchenette to pull down two glasses. "I've never seen you order it."
"That's because I don't drink it around anyone else." Mara handed over the bottle and let him pour generous splashes for them both. "It's the only liquor that will put me on the floor if I don't put a tremendous amount of effort into filtering it out."
He looked up sharply at that, his expression changing as he handed her the glass. There was surprise there, and pleasure at the gesture of trust it showed that she'd drink it in front of him… especially now.
"Yes," she acknowledged bluntly, clinking her glass against his, "it's an opener and not a subtle one." She let her lips twist wryly. "But I had the misfortune to work with a few of your Rogue buddies recently and was reminded that fighter jocks need things spelled out for them more often than not."

A bit from the amnesia fic, which is well underway.
"Have you been smoking?" "Ash," Sherlock says, stupidly, and good God, has his brain lost function entirely? "Yeah, no, you've already done that. No need to subject your lungs to it again," John said, and then he has his phone out, he is searching for something and— Sherlock's phone pings. He lifts it slowly, like moving underwater. "Your monograph on tobacco ash," John says. Sherlock closes his eyes.
