Figured I'd start sprucing up existing reference pulls and relisting them! I hope to update more regularly about this and the main index.
Currently Up to Standards: Central America in Werewolf: The Apocalypse, England in Werewolf: The Apocalypse
Then you've got the mess:

Time for a little update! I've been focusing on getting the location-related references updated first since they're fairly straightforward but also generally "popular". Once I'm done with those, we'll see where I go!

What the WtA Index is, and what it can do for you!
So alright. What on earth is this Index? What's it going to be any good for? Let's find out!
Legacy WtA is big. It stretches thirty years, four editions, and my list of pertinent sources for the game (not even complete yet!) numbers over 200. Newer books are easily searched if you have a PDF, but older ones not so much - especially if the subject you're looking for is referred to in oblique ways that don't provide a handy key search term. And even with the newer PDFs, you gotta know to even check in the first place!
So I've been trawling through the books, keeping page numbers about subjects as they arise. As an example, here's the current entry for "Ahroun", an admittedly very simple subject with frequent mentions:
Holy moly! Of course, they're not all that huge. You get entries with only one source, or cute little ones like this:
For anyone working on a W:tA project, the benefits should be pretty clear. Finding obscure references will be considerably easier. That's my goal - to offer a powerful resource to talented creators for the (very flawed) game that I love so dearly.
Now, the index is far from ready for release. I have many more books to process, and a lot of choices to make about how to organize entries, what terms to file certain things under, and formatting. So while I'll offer these glimpses behind the scenes as to what the index looks like, I don't release the files - yet. Someday!
So what good is it doing you in the meantime? Well, I won't let you go rummaging through the index yourself just yet, but I'll happily rummage through it for you, making reference pulls for a given subject. Here's an example of references to Wales that I made for someone. Currently not a lot there in the books I've indexed (I imagine this'll get a lot longer once I hit Tribebook: Fianna Revised!) but it's easy to update as I go. If there's a subject you're looking for references to, feel free to let me know in an ask or message here on tumblr and I'll get to it when I'm between books!
Also, because I have been ordered to do this, and because of the capitalist hellscape, here's my tip jar. Note that tips are neither required nor expected for doing reference pulls, just appreciated!

I've only done one reference pull since last time, but it was a doozy! For @songoftrillium I put together what is, by far, my most ambitious reference pull to date: Mages, Magic and WTA. Every reference to mages and magic (true or hedge) that I could find in WTA books. It's nearly 120 pages of citations, and it's not even entirely complete. While I am fairly confident about having nabbed everything of worth from the books I have indexed, I also pulled everything I could find from books I've yet to thoroughly index, so stray mentions got missed there. Even so, I'd say this is a fairly strong view of mages and magic from the perspective of the Garou and Fera and will be updated as I go forward.
Working on that took some hours, so unfortunately my "In the Pipeline" list from last time remains unchanged. I will get to these, in time!
Completed & Ready for Enjoyment: Central America in WTA; Mages, Magic & WTA; Scotland in WTA; Werewolves of England
In the Pipeline: The Caribbean in WTA, Garou Professionals & Academics, Jewish People & Judaism in WTA, Silver Fangs in US Politics, Wales in WTA
While I'm waiting for a book to arrive, I've been working on some Werewolf reference pulls for folks. I've cleaned a few of them up for your enjoyment!
Completed & Ready for Enjoyment: Central America in WTA, Scotland in WTA, Werewolves of England

Been a little bit, so here's an update for you all!
The State of the Concordiat is where I issue progress reports for how the index is coming along, primarily (at this time) what books I've entered in. I used to pick books to index rather randomly, but lately I've mostly kept to a chronological release order. Right now I've got most Werewolf-related sources completed up through September of 1995, excluding novels, fiction anthologies and LARP sources (though I will be indexing these eventually, they're just lower-priority).
Which book am I currently working on? Well, since last time I've completed Savage Attack: A Players Guide to Rage, Tribebook: Red Talons and Outcasts: A Players Guide to Pariahs. I did a big reference pull (a post coming about that soon!) that kept me occupied for a while, so not quite as much progress on the index as I would have otherwise hoped for. But I'm back on track, and Freak Legion is up next. A very thorough book about fomori, but a part of the Black Dog imprint so it can be pretty dark and edgy. In Freak Legion's case, it's particularly splatterpunk, for good and for ill.
Below the cut you'll find the now fairly hefty list of sources I've indexed:
Completed to Current Standards: Art of Werewolf: The Apocalypse (Revised), Book of Worlds, Book of the Wyrm (First Edition), Book of the Wyrm (W20), Caerns: Places of Power, Ghost Towns, Guardians of the Caerns, Monkeywrench: Pentex, Outcasts, Past Lives, Players Guide to Garou, Possessed, Project Twilight, Rage: Warriors of the Apocalypse, Rite of Passage, Rites of Renown, Savage Attack, Skinner, Tribebook: Black Furies, Tribebook: Bone Gnawers, Tribebook: Children of Gaia, Tribebook: Fianna, Tribebook: Get of Fenris, Tribebook: Glass Walkers, Tribebook: Glass Walkers Revised, Tribebook: Red Talons, Tribebook: U****a Revised, Umbra: the Velvet Shadow, Under a Blood Red Moon, Ways of the Wolf, Werewolf: the Apocalypse (Second Edition), Werewolf: the Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Edition, Werewolf Players Guide, Werewolf Storytellers Handbook, Werewolf Storytellers Screen (First Edition), Werewolf Storytellers Screen (Second Edition), Werewolf Storytellers Screen (W20), White Wolf Magazine - Issue 32, White Wolf Magazine - Issues 39-44, Wyld West Expansion Pack

...oh, I guess it's been a while. My apologies! We're certainly overdue for an update, especially because I have some new followers.

Well, I zipped right through "Rite of Passage" - even faster than I anticipated. It's only 70 pages but surprisingly reference-sparse. Some interesting things in there though - Garou ghosts, the first appearance of the Gurahl, etc.
Since I was on a roll, I did a couple other older, briefer materials too: the first edition Stortyellers Screen (not much there obviously, though it does have some interesting bits about Umbral Combat), and White Wolf Magazine #32 (which has an adventure ostensibly for vampires or werewolves and technically involving both, but really it's mostly a vampire story).

I've decided to move chronologically for a little bit, to get some early stuff out of the way. Therefore, up next are White Wolf Magazine Issue 39, and Book of the Wyrm First Edition.
