Headcanon that the Arnor Kings of Old had wolves as their daemons.

Thinking symbolically it’s because their way of life was hard and full of constant danger, but they always kept close attention to their weakest members. Like wolves do in the wild; the alpha/leader of the pack/strongest fighter walks last defending from the rear.

Like the silent guardians the Dunadain grow to become in Middle-earth.
