Day One: Describe your character’s relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no?
Having her mother died during child birth, Pocahontas grew her life with only her father to guide her. With only her in his life, her father raised Pocahontas with the utmost love and care. As she grew up however, Pocahontas started to drift from any restrictions placed upon her and let her heart take control. Letting herself be free spirited and ever changing has caused some slight tension between her father and herself. He believes she needs to take things more seriously and decide her future while Pocahontas wants to enjoy life to the fullest before trying to commit to a future.
Day Two: What are your characters most prominent physical features?
Pocahontas has long dark hair that always lies wildly down her back and hardly stays in another style. She enjoys the breeze through her hair whenever she walks or run, so her mane is never still.
Day Three: Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don’t have any, is there a reason?
Pocahontas was a very active child who enjoyed walking through woods and climbing trees. She isn't shy from a couple scraps and scratches of mother nature's love. But however, one incident left a far larger scar. One summer day, she ventured out and stumbled out observed a rabbit hurt in a lake. Despite her own safety, she swam to its rescue and received a gash just shy of her collar bone. The wound gained her stitches and a stern lecture from her father, but she has never once regretted it. Since Pocahontas will never leave an animal hurt when she has the power to save them.
Day Four: How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive?
Pocahontas considers herself and all of mother nature's creatures beautiful in their own special way and are all connected to one another. She is hardly vain and wears clothing that make herself comfortable and happy.
Day Five: What’s your character’s ranking on the Kinsey Scale?
Pocahontas would be a 3, equally heterosexual and homosexual. Her love for nature has opened up her heart to various aspects of what nature has to offer but with forming deep human relationships not too much. She's willing to try to accept everyone, no matter gender, at a certain degree with enough time and effort done both my herself and others.
Day Six: Describe your character’s happiest memory.
The first day she ran for her school cross country team. As a child, Pocahontas loved running, but was limited to only a selection of a few open areas that were large enough for her energy. The moment she heard that shot go off and took her first step, she was at that moment free. Her whole body was light as if she could fly and her heart was truly happy.
Day Seven: Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why?
No there really isn't. Life wasn't perfect for Pocahontas without her mother, but her father assured her that he would forever treasure her and always be there by her side.
Day Eight: Day of Favorites! What’s your character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower?
Pocahontas favorite ice cream flavor has to be strawberry. Topped with chocolate syrup of course. Concerning her favorite color it is nearly all hues and shades of the entire color spectrum. However there are a select few that catches her eye more than others: cerulean blue, moss green, salmon pink and cream yellow. More on the classical scene, she enjoys instrumental pieces more than anything. Not minding entire hours of simply just instruments, Pocahontas has various works she loves. Although her all time favorite has to be the entire composition of Four Seasons by Vivaldi. Her favorite flowers are dandelions. Regardless of what people think about them being weeds, Pocahontas will always love their way of flowing with the wind whenever they please.
Day Nine: Who does your character trust?
Unfortunately, Pocahontas isn't one to trust too easily when it comes to human relationships and interactions. She's trying to get along with more individuals so she can start truly trusting people.
Day Ten: Can you define a turning point in your character’s life? Multiples are acceptable.
The first time that one of her paintings was recognized by her father. Pocahontas was quite worried when she first got seriously interested in painting. Afraid her father might only think of it as only a silly hobby. But that changed dramatically when he criticized her work, informed her how to get better, and encouraged her to pursue her passion. He assured her that he was willy to accept her and told her never be afraid to express herself the way she wants.
Day Eleven: Is there an animal you equate with your character?
A gazelle. Specifically while running, sprinting through the lands free.
Day Twelve: How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email?
Pocahontas is hardly a wizard when it comes to technology. In fact she would rather do everything the traditionally way rather than use today's technology. Her preference to do things by hand or in person saves her from the embarrassment and headache of trying to comprehend the "simpleness" of computers.
Day Thirteen: What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep?
Every morning, Pocahontas wakes up with her hair sprayed entirely over her pillows. Ever since she was a child, she enjoyed laying in trees, so to this day she always sleeps in a curled position with her blankets lightly covering her.
Day Fourteen: How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold?
The temperatures hardly bother Pocahontas. When it comes to the weather mother nature has to offer, she accepts all. Whether playing t be playing in the snow, swimming in the lake to keep herself cooled, or just watching the rain pound outside her window, she opens her arms and adjusts.
Day Fifteen: Is your character an early morning bird or a night owl?
Pocahontas is a bit of both, but more on the night owl side. Nothing beats admiring the night time beauty under the moonlight.
Day Sixteen: Are there any blood relatives that your character is particularly close with, besides the immediate ones? Cousins, Uncles, Grandfathers, Aunts, et cetera. Are there any others that your character practically considers a blood relative?
The only person Pocahontas can accept as her blood is her father. He is all she has.
Day Seventeen: What’s your character’s desk/workspace look like? Are they neat or messy?
Pocahontas doesn't bother with order. When it comes to her painting, everything is a mess. She likes laying everything around her and working herself in the center. Concerning her school work it's hardly an exception. For Pocahontas mess among her working space has to be present before she can completely organize her thoughts.
Day Eighteen: Is your character a good cook? What’s their favorite recipe, whether they’re good or not? (Microwave mac-and-cheese applies.)
When it comes to cooking, Pocahontas can easily manage a lovely dish filled with herbs, spices and vegetables. Nothing is a problem for her to cook if she sets her mind to it. Like with her painting, she loves bringing various flavors and colors to her creations. Her favorite recipe to cook is her mother's family corn casserole that her father learned through her and eventually taught Pocahontas.
Day Nineteen: What’s your character’s preferred means of travel?
Pocahontas likes to generally walk everywhere she goes. Nothing beats enjoying the sun and wind on a nice stroll.
Day Twenty: Does your character have any irrational fears?
Having nature destroy her. For as much as Pocahontas loves nature and respects her, she is simply terrified of being trapped in nature's fury without a way out.
Day Twenty-One: What would your character’s cutie mark be?
A multicolored sweeping paintbrush.
Day Twenty-Two: If your character could time travel, where would they go?
She would love to travel back in time to meet the tribal princess she was named after, Pocahontas. She believes that it would have been quite fascinating to learn about such an inspirational woman who changed her people's lives.
Day Twenty-Three: Is your character superstitious?
Unfortunately not. Pocahontas believes that fate can change and destiny is within an individual's own hands. There is no good or bad luck, but rather how your path forms depending on which one you take.
Day Twenty-Four: What might your character’s ideal romantic partner be?
A person who learns to care for natural as clearly as she does. Pocahontas loves the beauty of the world and hopes to find someone who sees living and enjoying life in a positive light. Someone who can open her heart to wondrous possibilities she could only imagine. Not an actual magical being per say, but someone who does sparkle in her heart as if they were magical.
Day Twenty-Five: Describe your character’s hands. Are they small, long, calloused, smooth, stubby?
Pocahontas' hands always have a hint of color on them. Always painting, her hands aren't the type to be clean and smooth but rather small, colorful and hard from wet paint. Her fingers are sturdy and flexible from years of playing with paintbrushes and holding onto various mediums.
Day Twenty-Six: Second day of favorites! Favorite comfort food, favorite vice, favorite outfit, favorite hot drink, favorite time of year, and favorite holiday.
Pocahontas chooses to indulge herself with Twizzlers as her comfort food. As for her favorite vice, short-sightedness stands at top of the list. She would rather enjoy herself to the fullness during the now than take into account the distant future. Her favorite outfit consist of a number of her baggy shirts that are splattered with her paint stains, her favorite jeans and matching paint splattered converses. During the winter time, her favorite hot drink has to be a hot white chocolate latte topped off with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. Her favorite time of year is during the Spring when the flowers are out and the sun is shining at a moderate level. Despite that, her favorite holiday is months away with Halloween. Painting face masks and having a good scare with everyone around brings joy to her face.
Day Twenty-Seven: Pick two songs that describe your character at two different points of their life, and explain why you chose them.
Chartreuse by Capital Cities
During her younger years, Pocahontas had a dark period that was filled with the realization that her mother died during childbirth. In her mind, Pocahontas blamed herself immensely and suffered a time of loneliness and emptiness. It wasn't until it was suggested that she should draw for fun to cheer herself up that she realized that she shouldn't surround herself in darkness. Her mother wouldn't like that. She needed to let light and loads of color into her life to erase the sadness she felt.
Kill Your Heroes by AWOLNATION
The moment Pocahontas graduated from high school, her head was filled with uncertainty. Her future was divided into multiple paths and she wasn't sure where she needed to go. After internal battles with herself she gave up trying to force a decision. She simply accepted what her heart would tell her.
Day Twenty-Eight: If your character’s life was a genre, what would it be?
Possibly a fairy tale. Pocahontas enjoys interacting with various creatures and mother nature that she sometimes feels like she has a connection with them. Her heart points to her destiny and she strives to always follow it.
Day Twenty-Nine: How does your character smell? Do they wear perfume or cologne?
Unfortunately Pocahontas doesn't wear any perfume due to the fact she enjoys the smell of nature far more and does not want to disrupt nature. If anything, she smells of oil paints and lead pencils due to her excessive and strong passion for painting.
Day Thirty: And finally: Write a letter to your character, from yourself.
Dear Pocahontas,
Hi there, it's me, Mar. How are you? Are you eating? Are you well? I know you aren't the type to not fully engage yourself with others and speak out, but I decided to ask anyway because I'm here.
Okay first thing, oh wow you're awesome. So incredibly awesome. You have intense skills that make me squeal with happiness. I think your art is incredible and your passion is everlasting. Don't ever let it die out. You need to continue pursuing art. You love it way too much to quit.
With your trust issues...oh boy. I understand honey I do, but try to accept others more. You need people. Don't continue burying yourself in your work and avoid new relationships with others. You're stunning inside and out and need to let everyone see. If that's a little too much for you, I can always be the first person for you. Like I said I'm here.
Well that's all I have to say. Take care sweetie. Don't forget that I'm watching out for you. You aren't alone. I have your back.
