Favorite German Words

Die Wundertüte = literally “wonder bag” or “miracle bag”, as in surprise packet, goody bag, grab bag, jamboree bag, mystery bag. A bag full of goodies, usually a collection of random things, in which you do not know what you are buying and get a surprise when opening the bag. As kids, we bought these at the kiosk (a sort of mini convenience store) or got them at kiddie birthday parties.

An amused smile  t e a s e s  at the corner of his mouth,  brows raised slightly at the ...   threat?  Danny wasn’t even quite sure it was a threat,  a challenge  or a   j o k e,  but regardless he holds up his hands in sign of   surrender.                  “         Hey if you want the  number one garbage bin  title,  you can take it,         ”                 he says before lowering his hands slightly and wiggling his fingers in gesture as he adds,    j o k i n g l y,             “       Musician,  remember ?    I can’t fuck up my hands.  I’ll   doom   myself to teaching at a music store in rural Massachusetts.         ”              Danny drops his hands,  the smile on his lips growing slightly in jest and shrugs before amending his statement once more,             “       Besides,  you’d probably kick my ass.  And I’m a pretty   easy going   dude,  but even I don’t like  losing.        ”
