2. “You were trying to reach for a box of cereal and a whole shelf’s-worth of cereal boxes fell on you here let me help”
Baekhyun loathes cooking for himself. It’s a known fact to himself, friends, colleagues, anyone knows Baekhyun despises cooking if they just take a glance at the foods that line his single-shopper cart. Microwavable foods are his friends, but the grocery store aisle he’s down now contains his best friends. Cereal lines the shelves from top to bottom, every rectangular box neatly lined next to the other. Baekhyun nearly sings praise at the creation of the boxed food– except he doesn’t since he’s in public– as he makes his way down the line, heart set on one certain kind: Oreo O’s. He knows his preference in cereal could be described as childish, but Baekhyun has always had a sweet tooth, so when he spies the desired box, a small smile slips onto his face.
It does however, fade slightly when he notices it’s on the very top shelf. He isn’t going to end his grocery trip without his favorite cereal though, so he pushes his cart to the side, finds the solution in being too short to reach the highest shelf by stepping on a lower one. He tip-toes his way onto the bottom shelf with his fingers outstretched toward the highest one, but his fingers barely graze over the edge of the cardboard. He’s almost there but not quite. A miffed noise leaves his throat but he puts a hand down on another shelf slightly above him to push himself up just a little bit higher, tonguing at his cheek in his determination as his palm puts pressure on the rack because just a little more and he’ll– crack!
The shelf he’s holding on bends underneath the pressure of his hand, taking Baekhyun off guard and the cereal with it as the boxes slide off the edge and hit him square in the jaw. He yelps and flails to shield his face for cover, but all it accomplishes is knocking more boxes off of the shelf and him tripping over the one he had been standing on. He lands flat on his butt with his hands clutching his face, cereal bombarding him in all directions for a good moment before the hectic onslaught finally stops. One last single box falls on top of his face for what seems to be good measure.
He lets out a soft groan from where he lays underneath the pile of assorted cereals, cheeks burning and ass throbbing from the fall as he dares not to move his hands from his face. His eyes had fallen shut somewhere along the way in covering himself from the attack, but now he didn’t dare open them. The aisle he was currently splayed out across was silent, and he hopes nobody saw– People don’t eat cereal, right?– but luck just doesn’t seem to be on his side as he slowly squints an eye open to peer at his surroundings. Baekhyun’s cheeks burn a deep crimson at the sight of a man standing right next to him.
