Okay, here's my dumb mini-theory that everybody else has probably figured out by now, but hey, why the hell not.
So, basically my idea is that monsters with fire magic can control the temperature the flames burn at, creating flames that don't actually burn stuff... Does that make sense??? I dunno.
The most obvious example is Toriel's fireplace:
But the second thing, which I wanted to mention, is Grillby, just, in general.
I mean, firstly, the fact that a person made entirely out of fire somehow doesn't burn everything around him is... Decent evidence, but this next set of screenshots is pretty interesting to me.
These are from the very end of the Undertale anniversary concert stream. (Firstly... Oh my god Grillby has a cake. This made me so happy when I first saw it lmao)
The fact that he's holding the cake, without it lighting on fire, and then, he seems to purposefully set it on fire, BUT THEN...
The cake is completely unscathed.
(Also idk where the candle came from but let's just ignore that)
So like. Idk. I think it's a pretty neat idea, and it certainly seems to be canon. (Also please don't hesitate to shoot me on sight if there's some actual confirmation of this somewhere in the lore, I'm so so stupid and I'm sorry for that)
Idk how to wrap this up so uh. Thanks for reading this I guess lol.
