Nothing went as planned. NOTHING went smoothly. Daisy thought for a second that she had this. But nope. She was shot, bleeding, in pain, and a l o n e after assuring everyone she’d be fine, her powers must’ve blown the earpiece because she was getting no answer. She could walk forever to find her team, and possibly bleed out and die right there, or she could get help from the last person on earth she wanted help from.

She’s groaning, a little out of breath as she stumbles into Ward’s “hiding place” and  leans against the door. “Ow...” // @wxard

Guns scared the crap out of Nathan for good reason; his powers weren’t much use against them. Then again, if he was going to be a real superhero, he had figure out how NOT to get shot eventually. Whoever this guy was? He had that skill down.

The gun fight wasn’t like it was in the movies. Stray bullets went every which way and Nathan’s only cover was an old recycling can. The bike helmet on his head wouldn’t stop a bullet nor would the ski goggles over his eyes. But it was over quickly. Everything went eerily silent. When Nathan finally gathered the courage to crawl forward –hands leaving his ears– to peek around the edge of the plastic bin, he was met with a pair of black boots.

Nathan tilted his head back to stare up at the man. “... hi?”

She stared at him as he spoke, her face almost blank save for the slight narrowing of her eyes and clenching of her jaw. He was hardly the only person to have referred to her by that name, nor the first to address her that way, but it annoyed her all the same.

“No,” she shook her head once, expression not changing. “It doesn’t.” To others, ‘the Cavalry’ was a person who had gone in and saved the day. A hero. To her, it was a painful reminder of what she had done, and what she never wanted to have to do again. “You know I’m not here to see combat.”
