“What happened? Are you wounded?” Ginoza asked worriedly, stepping closer to Kougami -too close, he suddenly realized, too close for an Inspector with his Enforcer. Ginoza tensed, but his hand was already on Kougami’s upper arm, squeezing it before he could stop himself. He had yet to become used to their newly established difference in rank, he sourly realized.

“Stay with me, Gino.”

Kougami’s words came just like that, blurted out after a night of passion, after something that for many years had been just a long, distant memory. And Ginoza doesn’t know what to say.

Part of him screams YES, that they should just elapse together, run as far from Sybil as possible -SEAUn is just too close for comfort. And it’s hard silencing that voice now, as they both are putting their clothes back on, knowing that if Ginoza says ‘No’, they probably will never see each other again. Yet, Ginoza still hesitates.

“I... Kougami...” he says in a strangled voice, clutching the shirt he was supposed to put back on his shoulders. “You know that I can’t...”

I want to, but I can’t, Ginoza is about to say, but his lips don’t move. He’s still too much of a dog on a leash, apparently.
