for @wyrdsysters / season 5 caos crossover / prudence
The night was filled with the chirp of late-autumn crickets, and while beautiful in thought, in reality Jughead was wondering when he might get a moment of quiet. It had been LOUD in Riverdale lately, from the sound of fallen rock within the caves under Thornhill, or incessant chaos coming from Hiram Lodge. Sometimes the woods were the only place Jughead could escape ( and yes, the bunker as well, but being trapped underground like an animal only made him feel suffocated ).
Jughead could only go on his intuition and the woods was where he was called to, wondering what creature hid out here pretending to be the ever-famous Moth Man. Yes, Jughead knew all about that lore and its beginnings with bridges, death and immortality. Riverdale certainly had the kind of devastation that could attract such a BEING. And, as Jughead rationalized to himself, West Virginia was not too far away.
A man who had once been a boy aware of his surroundings, Jughead had changed a lot living in New York where everything and everyone made as much noise as possible. He now walked without the same carefulness he would have at sixteen.
What he was searching for was a question he didn’t even know the answer to, and yet his feet kept him going, seeking out answers he wasn’t sure he’d find, or wanted.
