basically everything in the government/gov’t agencies is divided between essential and non-essentials. All non-essentials are out of a job until budget happens. Essentials have job but wont get paid until budget happens.

it was time for the new budget to happen but they couldnt decide on a budget by the deadline. So now the government has no funding and government agencies are shutting down until they agree on a budget.
