Just for that, she rubbed the alcohol a little harsher, cleaning away the scrapes and injuries before tossing the cotton ball to the small trash can beside them and using a clean one for the rest of his face. This was the bad part of dating a superhero, the aftermath of a fight and having to deal with the fright and anxiety of what could have happened.

Billy was reckless, and well, Mabel really couldn’t say anything against that with her own record.

“Very funny.”

“Stay still.”

She trusted him, Billy promised he’d always come back to her and so far he's done a good job in keeping that true.

“Ms. would do,” the journalist corrected gently with a smile as she offered him a soda can. “And no, you’re not. I just need to ask you a few questions on what happened earlier.” Blue eyes darted over to what used to be standing jungle gym, now reduced to only memories and pieces of scrap metal.

          BRUCE HAD BEEN TRACKING THESE strange random bolts of lightning all evening, hoping he’d be able to figure out why they kept occurring. he tracked down the location of the last bolt and waited, perched on top of a building until he saw a flash of red and yellow before he heard a shout of ‘shazam’. bruce peered over the edge of the building and saw a kid standing just where the lightning had last struck. he frowned and climbed down, landing silently behind him.

                    “ it’s too dangerous for someone so young to be out here alone. but then again, you’re not exactly without your own set of defenses, are you? ”

Late night shifts had become normality to him, most of the time falling asleep under his desk onto a mountain of recyclable paper until Caitlin woke him and forced him to go home and take a shower. Shaking away the way Cisco ran his fingers through his hair, drying away the rest of it by wiping his hands onto the front of his graphic t-shirt.

Four cold brews in a span of six hours could really put someone in an embarrassing predicament, thank god everyone else thought sleep was a bodily necessity.

“Now where was I? Oh right, I h-” As the doors opened to the main lab the voice took him out of it, jumping in surprise and holding out his hands as the blue vortex energy had already begun to form from the ends of the man’s fingertips.

“Billy?”

What on Earth was this kid doing here?

“Oh my god! Don’t do that! Shouldn’t you know better than to sneak up on a superhero?”

“His name is Silky and he is my cute little bumgorf-- yes he is.” Star excitedly presented the larva to her friend. Sliky really wasn’t for everyone, but Starfire adored the would-be moth more than anyone could fathom. She cooed and made kissy noises as well.

“He enjoys many foods, including the pop-ed corn.”

“Is it big enough? I don’t think it's big enough.” Walking around the display Mabel hummed, a finger resting under her chin as the brunette inched closer to inspect the plastic trim and branches before pulling away. 

Could it have shrunk during delivery?

Maybe the store messed up and gave them the wrong tree. It could happen, right?

"What do you think?”

“Like, okay I know the kids don’t care about the tree and only about the gifts but I want this Toy Drive to be special! The prettier it is, the more toys we can collect.”
