Mary’s been married once in her life, and to a man she lost to illness shortly after vowing herself to him. Ever since that loss, she hasn’t pursued a relationship of the sort again--mainly out of an unwillingness to commit both her emotions and time to it. While she has her fun with both men and women alike on occasion, she doesn’t so easily develop romantic feelings. And when she does, she’s wary of them.
