UmiMaki and NozoUmi (yay LLW) for the ship grading? :3
As a LLW trash, I love all ships in it (NozoUmi, UmiRin, NozoRin) whether it’s platonic or romantic. In my first watch of the anime, I had no idea why in the world these three were in the same group in S2ep2. Printemps and Bibi sort make sense, but Lily white was ?_? These three don’t have much interaction in the anime. Buxom boobiecon, obstinate Oni, kitty lovely item… wut?
But then ofc after being exposed to other media, such as radio drama and even the lives, I fell hard for this awesomely chaotic subunit XDD Maa, I won’t get much into why LLW is my fav subunit because I’m supposed to talk about NozoUmi!! Ahem, I first opened my eyes to its possibility simply because, there are EliUmi and NozoEli… why not NozoUmi?? (and also how I first started thinking of KotoEli). Once the switch’s been turned on, the rest just sort of fell into place: they’re both patient and perceptive; they prefer supporting their loved ones incognito so the spotlight won’t fall on them; Umi can be the reliable companion, the pillar of stability that Nozomi yearns for; Nozomi can remain an enigma because unlike blunt magnets (Nico or Maki), Umi would not force Nozomi to reveal herself and accept her as she is; in spite of being perceptive about others, Umi can be a really, really dense thick chunk of lead slow about herself or what others think/feel for her, but Nozomi’s passive, tranquil way of guidance can help Umi learn; vice versa too, since Nozomi is also rather oblivious when it comes to herself get a grip dem damn LLWs lmao yes tabbeh is dumb too <3
I don’t see passionate sparks that would ignite this relationship, but rather they’re the type that builds up slowly, like tidings of an immense sea that gradually and steadily reveals its secret. Don’t you just see the picturesque scene of the calm sea under the moonlight when you think of NozoUmi? Overall, I will always have a soft spot for this ship X3
