Sitting at his desk, with a stack of papers around him, Liam was reading through them as fast as his abilities would let him after having introduced the idea of the business venture with Christian many if not most had been opposed. However the benefit of holding most of the shares in the company meant that he had the final say, he also stressed that the money would come from his trust. Explaining to the members of the board that all of the profits would come into the company, but if it were to be loss it wouldn’t affect the same.
Reading over badly written financial reports and with a list of employees he was looking to fire as part of his determination to clean up the mess his father had made, he huffed running a hand through his hair. Firing people wasn’t easy, warranted or not the idea of placing people in a situation where they’d be out of a job weighed on the young man’s conscience for everyone except for the man who raised him. Raised being the operative word, because neither of his parents had done much of it. Most of his life had been dictated by nannies, and private instructors and he would have been an extremely lonely child had it not been for the three girls he had come to know as his best friends.
Suddenly Liam was pulled out of his thoughts one of his secretaries handing him a large manilla envelope telling him it was of the most urgent matters. Nodding as she handed it to him, he held his breath before pulling the tab open and what fell on his desk was enough to make him go pale. Pictures, and not just pictures, pictures of people he loved each of them taken at a different time, familiar faces his sisters, Lily, Lissa, Sofia even his parents and they all came attached with a warning note. It wasn’t until he spotted a few pictures of Lily and himself in Chicago that he threw them on his desk, hands shaking he covered his face for a good ten seconds or so before ruffling his hair.
He couldn’t breathe, it felt like the room was growing smaller as the seconds slowly ticked by and the weight he had worked so hard to pull of his shoulders was suddenly back. Heavier than ever before but it also gave him the confirmation that whatever his father had done was much more complicated than business fraud. He could handle that, he could bring the company back from that his determination had been evident the entire time and it hadn’t dwindled at least not until now. Pushing himself off his desk, Liam all about kicked the doors of his office open, pictures in hand he looked towards his secretary and all but yelled for her to cancel all of his appointments as he ran out of the building, pushing past the crowds in the elevator. Running in a direction even he didn’t know all he needed was to breathe again or at least attempt to.
