🌻🌼🏵 Send this to ten other blogs you think are wonderful. keep the game going. 🏵🌼🌻 Also, welcome back.
Val, means so much! Thanks, love, you are such a wonderful human being yourself 💖
Sheer Heart Attack, since it's my fave 😊
Thanks Val, it’s one of my faves, too! <3
Sheer Heart Attack
Cover: Almost as iconic as the Queen II cover! The boys look hot, adorable, cosy, and friendly. I wanna join them tbh.
Favorite song: Since it’s one of my favourites, it’s a really difficult choice! I don’t think this album contains a single song that I dislike? My current favourite is either In The Lap of The Gods Revisited or Brighton Rock!
Least favorite song: Probably Misfire. I don’t care too much about this song and btw I personally don’t think it’s about what everyone thinks it is
Underrated track: Tenement Funster! This song is fantastic, man. And ofc Roger sounds magnificent.
Overrated track: Oh man... This is not easy. I hate saying that because I adore the song and the love people have for it is perfectly justified, but I gotta go with Killer Queen, because it’s definitely very popular and I feel like some other songs from the album get overshadowed. It’s one of my faves, though! It’s a great song! :*
Color that I associate with that album: Orange
Send me a Queen album
I'm dying from the heat here in Rome... So I'm chilling on the couch watching old movies. What about you? As for requests.... I'd take whatever you fancy because your edits are always stunning. Maybe something about Rog and Fred?
Hi Vale! 💖 omg the weather must be awfully hot there in Rome! It’s usually warmer there than where I live. Keep hydrated! I’m currently watching an anime series called “Lost Song.” I like it so far!
As for your request, here are a few Froger headers. Hope you like them! 💖
x5vale heeft gereageerd op je bericht: I honesly don’t like looking at 90s pics of Roger...
I’ve witnessed it. He was unhappy. He hid it with his usual carefree attitude but those were hard years. When I saw him live, the only moments he was truly happy was when he was totally into his music, if you know what I mean. And that’s why I’m grateful Sarina and Adam showed up. They helped a lot.
Yes I totally agree! And of course the closeness with Brian gives him strength as well. But let’s not forget that no matter what you think about Paul Rodgers, if he hadn’t been there Roger might not have been were he is now either.
Are you watching? Go ROG!
YES 1-1 in sets!!! Djokovic really flunked that one.
Hey Nath, just dropping a quick hello. Hope you are doing OK!
Hi Val!
I’m even more than ok bc my holidays have just started! How are you, darling?
Your wish is my command dear, so what about telling me how you fell in love with Queen? And I'm sure everything will work out fine tomorrow.
Thousand times thank you for kinds words and distraction, Val! <3
The thing is that I can’t pinpoint the exact moments I fell in love with Queen. It was something that grew in me over time - the band was present in the early stages of my life, especially Freddie Mercury and his extraordinary and unusual stage presence and grand voice, but also their greatest hits like We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions, Who Wants to Live Forever, I Want to Break Free, etc., I recall seeing some of their music videos. I had Bohemian Rhapsody and the Show Must Go On in my playlist for years, but if you asked me about Queen a full year ago, I most likely wouldn’t be able to name anyone but Freddie! Every now and then, on some rare occassions like the anniversaries of Freddie’s passing, I would reblog something Queen related onto my tumblr blog.
Fun fact: I remember briefly talking about Queen with a guy who was hitting on me and our mutual relationship didn’t exactly end up well - not badly, but pretty coldly. He was a big fan, I suppose, and Bohemian Rhapsody was one of his favourite songs. I remember telling him that I like Queen a lot, too.
I started listening to their music more sometime last summer - it could possibly related to the fact that the BoRhap trailer was released, it and several Queen songs ended up in my Youtube recommendations. And I started to listen to them on a regular basis. By the time I travelled to Belgium - it was the late October - I had 19 Queen songs on my phone. Now I have 106, and I’m probably gonna add a couple more sometime soon. But imagine: it was my second trip abroad and my first plane flight, and the first time I was seeing clouds from above I experienced it with Queen music playing from my earphones. When I was in Belgium, I saw a Freddie Mercury t-shirt that I wanted to buy, but it costed 18 euros and I had pretty limited budget. The owner of the shop was willing to sell it to me for 15 euros, but I declined the offer - I still regret not buying the shirt!
October-November-December was the time of “discovering” the band, which I think was one of the most beautiful phases in being a part of the fandom - you still get a bit confused, you learn some funny facts every day, you get to know the members, you hear those magnificent songs for the first time. You realize that you can relate to those 4 crazy boys. In December I saw Bohemian Rhapsody in the cinema, twice - first with my boyfriend, then with my sister and mum (my mother’s eyes were red when the movie was finished and she started her own Queen phase). Before Christmas I bought my first Queen biography, by Mark Blake - now I relentlessly trash this book for its many flaws and poor approach on the author’s side, but I still remember the excitement I felt when I was rushing home to open the package. And there were still so many songs to discover!
In January, I heard “Sail Away, Sweet Sister” for the first time and cried. Me, who basically never cries on movies and while listening to music.
In February, I got my first Queen vinyl - an old Russian record, gifted to me by my boyfriend’s grandparents. Soon afterwards, first CDs - 3 the Greatest Hits compilations. And on the Valentine’s Day: A Night at the Opera.
I remember bonding with some people in my life over Queen. My relationship with some of them wasn’t as good as then for literal years. And of course, getting into the tumblr fandom - I don’t think there was ever any fandom in which I interacted so much.
Now it’s June and I’ve read many sources about the band, heard all the studio albums, watched their music videos, a few documentaries and four full concerts, and I still feel that I’m not done. I’ve had passing obsessions, ones I would get into passionately but not for long, and I’ve had lasting obsessions which sometimes fade in their intensity but come back eventually. Now, it’s been about 9 months and I don’t feel like I love Queen any less, quite the contrary. It really does feel like a bond.
