Moving on from CP/M to MS-DOS, this issue's coverage began by stating that "new software and new expansion boards have turned DOS computers into formidable graphics work stations"; there was no obvious new "standard" in the boards described. As for CP/M, a feature on "enhancing eight-bit hardware" continued on from cooling fans costing "$5-100" through "RAM disks" costing "$395-995" to "logic analyzers" costing "above $2,000". Another article looked at alternatives to the well-established word processor WordStar, which included VEDIT PLUS, derived from a "programming editor" and thoroughly customizable, and WRITE ("Writer's Really Incredible Text Editor"), created for Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven, which had "two main goals: stay out of the way, and protect text."
