Closed starter: Xavier von Bismarck and Javier Wagner
Xavier's father was a canny man with an uncanny ability to see possibilities wherever he looked. He had always seemed to know what would happen like he had a sixth sense. He had known when Xavier would fall from a tree on the family estate and had already sent for the doctor. Still, despite all his canny abilities, the Prussian army had gotten slightly lax until Xavier stepped in. Like his father had been in his youth, Xavier could be hard, demanding only the best from his subordinates; he also gave little insight into his plans, instead giving them what they needed to know. Most of those who worked for him thought him a touch mad, but they could not see the picture he saw. He had seen the slow descent of the Holy Roman Empire and had spoken with Javier often about the possibility of a united German confederation. With the news of the fall, Xavier knew that the time to act was finally at hand.
After the news broke, he strode quickly to the King's door, not caring what hour it was, and he knocked loud enough to wake the dead. When the door was answered by one of Javier's men, Xavier clipped, "I need to speak to the King on a manner of urgent business." The tapped his foot impatiently as the face disappeared behind the door and, when the door opened, he quickly moved in, bowing to the king. "Your majesty, the Holy Roman Empire has fallen. The duchies are kingdoms now. I wished to speak to you once more about the Confederation."
