Xavier Prou or popularly known as Blek Le Rat, a French graffiti artist was born on the 15th of November 1952, in Boulogne-Billancourt, western suburbs of France. Dubbed “The father of stencil graffiti”, Blek Le Rat attended the École Des Beaux Arts in France before graduating in 1982. Known as the "Godfather of street art", 60-year-old Blek le Rat was born Xavier Prou in Paris. He began stencilling walls in his home city with his signature rat silhouette in 1981. Januszczak Waldemar has referred to him as “The rat who gave birth to Banksy". Blek le Rat created this work on a wall outside the Embassy Restaurant in Mayfair.
