Shades of Mischief - part I
-- Part II. -- Part III. --
~L&S~Right after all of the three monsters, the children of Loki, were exiled from Asgard for good Odin threw a feast, glad of finally getting rid of the bastards unwrothy of living among the gods. "Yes, it was I who tied the beast with Gleipnir. And I pierced its jaws with my sword," boasted Thor, god of thunder. His sonorous voice proud and loud so that no one would miss a word of his speech. "The binding forged by the dwarves is unbreakable. The monstrous wolf shall torment us no longer." He chuckled and took another gulp from his golden mug, admiring the view of his beautiful wife – Sif, who was sitting right next to him. Although Loki seemed to be enjoying the feast as much as the rest of the gods, drinking to every cheer and every toast raised to the loss of the giants and to the courage of the mighty Thor, he could feel the hatered rearing in his soul, gradually filling him up. Loki realized he could never find it in his heart to forgive Odin for what he had done to his three children. However, the Allfather took one step further. He went overboard when he brought down Loki's beloved, Angrboda, sending her straight to the chasm of hell. That is what truly sealed Odin's fate for good. And in Loki's mind Odin deserved fate worse than death. An unholy thought crossed his mind. "He will suffer," whispered Loki to himself, shooting malevolent glances towards Odin who was far too occupied with the company of fellow Asgardians to notice. The gods kept on celebrating, laughing at random stories about the defeat of the giants, drinking much more than they could stomach. The cheerful mood filled the air. "Do enjoy yourselves," thought Loki, "while you still can." By casting out Angrboda along with hers and Loki's children, Odin was merely taking care of the good reputation of the Asgardians, who were strictly forbidden to bond with the giants. But Loki never cared for the rules settled by a superior, so whoever came up with these deplorable guidelines surely wasted their precious time. Loki has always made the rules of his own. And no power could ever force him to do otherwise. Except the unadulterated loathing boiling inside of him, he could feel a twinging pain, leisurely drilling holes in his heart to the extent when he could no longer tell whether he ever had a heart at all. The pain of loss and longing took its place, mixing with resentment and contempt in the process. And nothing could ease the ache. Nothing could stop his thriving hate. And perhaps nothing ever will. Nothing except for revenge. Albeit, Odin had not been all that cruel – or so he thought. Right before the very feast he offered Loki his new, rightful wife chosen by the Allfather himself – a goddess named Sigyn. Presumably the gift was supposed to bring some sort of consolation. Or at least partially cut down Loki's rage. Loki looked to the side to take a peek at his brand new pet and almost immediately flinched back with revulsion. She repulsed him. Odin was nothing but a fool if he had thought that he would put Loki at ease with his precious little gifts and hollow words of what he believed to be wisdom. Old fool. It would take far more than that, to stop Loki from avenging his children and his lover. Whatever Odin had in mind arranging this hideous marriage, Loki would not forgive. He would not forget. He would not let go that easily. Odin will suffer. He will pay for his "good" deeds. ***
This is a prequel to the little something I have in mind. Like I said - more Norse mythology, than Marvel-based fic. It's gonna get angsty. And it's gonna get smutty. Soon.
