If Renly were here, he would know how to soothe him, know the right words to calm his rage. But Renly isn't here, and he never will be again. That's sort of the whole problem.

He knows there isn't an ally they could seek that wouldn't make a similar demand of his conscience sooner or later. Maybe the Starks would understand, but they would be the only ones.
