Finally got a chance to do some test flights today of my X525 I put together a little while ago. It took a little bit to get the gains of the KK board set where I could take off safely but once I got it in the air it felt pretty good. It did tend to yaw to the left which I compensated for with the transmitter. After a few flights (and minor crashes) I lowered the roll gain a bit to make flight a bit more stable. After this I was able to get decent hover. (The rest is likely my lack of practice)
One complaint that I have about the kit is the landing legs and screws.I find that I am constantly having to tighten the lander leg screws to keep them from falling off. I may wind up replacing the legs and motor mounts with something a bit more simple that requires less tweaking.
I also found that I am going to need a cover for the electronics on top to keep grass and such out. Seems like I have a few projects for the 3D Printer.
The next step will be switching the control from the current KK Board to the Ardu-Pilot board. (Mounting the ardu-pilot, gps, telemetry, and making a better mount for my current receiver.
