7 10 and 17
from these writing asks!
sorry for being so delayed...I haven’t been feeling well the past couple days and haven’t really been on tumblr much, but thank you for sending anyway!
7. What would you say your weakest genre to write for is?
Fluff, most definitely. It has recently come to my attention that I don’t even know what fluff is lmao since I initially tagged anachronism as fluff. That and just...AUs in general (with the exception of halloween-related AUs)
10. What frustrates you the most as a writer?
hard to tell whether this question is about what things frustrate me when I’m writing, or what pet peeves I have related to writing in general.
When I’m writing, I’m really frustrated when there’s only one word to describe something. I totally admit to being that bitch with a thesaurus open at all times—which is okay to do! So long as you know what words are acceptable in context. But there’s no other word that means that same as “demands” when it comes to dialogue, and that makes me real mad.
In writing that I read...I really, really, wish that fewer people used descriptors like “the blonde,” “the brunette,” “the girl”, etc when the characters’ names are already established. I know that people use these to avoid repetition but I PROMISE no one actually notices if you repeat names or pronouns. It’s part of the natural flow of narrative and, if anything, the descriptors are more distracting imo.
17. If there’s one thing you could tell your readers, what would it be?
Since my readers are primarily in the spop fandom these days—I have been an Aly & AJ fan since a very, very young age and I have seen them in concert. A tiny concert, even, at a very small venue where I was standing nearly close enough to touch them, and honestly that concert lives rent free in my mind at all times.
