Does anyone else get really amped about Aeryn’s stabby mom or is it just me
3 and 22 on choose violence! Any fandom you want!
3. I once saw someone complain that Dune is bad because it's about a white saviour guy doing a colonialism and like. sure that's what it's about but.
22. I feel that Farscape fandom as a whole isn't (and hasn't historically) been obsessed enough about Xhalax Sun. And not just because I would like to read more fanfiction about her, but as a character who appears meaningfully in 2 episodes, she's incredibly richly characterised and has many layers of thematic and symbolic significance. Also she chooses hate and rage from the moment she wakes up, stabs as many people as she possibly can with an enormous knife which maybe she dug out of her own flesh and goes to bed the same amount of angry. She lives inside a house of cards (the cards represent denial) which comes crashing down as soon as someone who matters to her blows on it a little bit. I love her, you see
Xhalax says “I died along time ago” but. she wakes up and kills her sensitive, loving rebellious self every day. She’s in pain but she is so alive and she can’t see that, and no wonder because she has been robbed of hope and love. She has to continually choose to be the worst version of herself because she has no choice but to uphold Peacekeeper Bullshit, despite her whole life revealing it for what it is, so she has to believe it to make her life vaguely tolerable. Every time she stabs the Xhalax Talyn fell in love with, she just gets back up and so she’s killing her over and over. And because she tries so hard to believe The Bullshit she kind of expects everyone around her to do the same (which is why her lies are transparent and her schemes are bad and incredibly stupid). Sisyphus. Boulder.
Just thinking about how wildly Peacekeeper rules vary depending on who you are. Crais gets to go back to his quarters and attempt to eat dinner after defying orders and murdering a loyal officer, but Aeryn gets sentenced to death on a whim because her boss is mad that day. Grayza regains her position after almost getting her crew killed and gets to enjoy her partner and pregnancy because she's a boss but. Xhalax is utterly and continually oblierated for wanting what Grayza has. because she's nobody.
Technically, since she got promoted to Senior Officer and became line manager to three corlatas, *technically* speaking that makes her a girlboss. Technically.
