For the meme! U
U- Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and whythey’re your favorites.
Mitth'raw'nuruodo/ Grand Admiral Thrawn from the Star Wars EU. Listen. I'm a suckerfor villains -- particularly noble villains who aren't actually bad,but simply serve as the antagonist. Thrawn sweetened the pot bybeing a genius asshole, which is my literal favorite character traitever. He was a military tactician who could anticipate enemy strategy bystudying their species' art. He was never a bad person; he wassimply a chaotic neutral dude who found that working for the GalacticEmpire fit his needs quite well. Plus, he had blue skin, which ispretty cool.
CloudStrife from Final Fantasy VII. I gotta put him on here, because wemet back in the FF7 glory days! Cloud was my first positiveencounter with a mentally ill protagonist. Honestly, to this day, when shit gets too rough, it's encouraging tome that Cloud's mental illness was real, maybe not quiteaddressed in canon, but real, and he saved the world anyway. Infact, the entire point of his story was that the things that he hatedabout himself, his perceived weaknesses and flaws, ended up beinghuge assetsto him. Only when Cloud stopped lying to himself and let himself bewho he really was, was he able to fight Sephiroth and Jenova, andsave the world.
Lupfrom The Adventure Zone. Lup wasn't my first encounter with a transprotagonist -- that would probably be Faris Sherwiz, who really oughtto be on this list but isn't because I put Cloud down instead. Lup,however, ismy first encounter with a canonically trans protagonist who washandled well and whose transness wasn't the entire point of hercharacter. I mean, there's also Crem from Dragon Age Inquisition, but they had a woman do his voice acting which...isn't great. Thething about Lup, though, is that she would be my favorite characteranyway, because she's cool and funny and interesting and smart, but she hassome pretty big, glaring flaws. Plus, I'm always down for a heapingdose of Tragic Past. But Lup came into my life while I was busyquestioning my own gender, and, well, I mean, that probably helped alot. And I mean, a transwoman? With a happy ending????????? WHATNONSENSE IS THIS???
