Xochipilli is the "Flower Prince", the Nahua god of flowers, pleasure, love, dance...and associated with human sexuality and Queerness.
They/he is depicted as gender fluid and both man and woman having a Cihuayollotl ("heart of a woman")... The symbol in the center is the pictogram for "xochitl" which means "flower" in Nahuatl.
Xochipilli is the patron god of sex workers, transgender folks, two-spirit folks, and Queers.
As a mixed race chicane and someone who has been estranged by family for my gender - I often feel ROOTLESS. Like my heritage has been colonized and whitewashed before I had the chance to find community. But Xochipilli is a reminder that Flowers cannot always see their Roots.
Regardless we bloom. 🌻
