Viola tricolor. I think. These are from a woman in XII Morelli (Ferrara), a town near the Castle of Galeazza. Her gravel drive was a carpet of these. Literally thousands. I saw her outside one day and I said "What a beautiful driveway you have! Great job!" She told me she didn't do anything. I said that was a perfect thing to do: nothing at all. It's not always easy to do nothing in a garden. I asked for a couple plants, and she said that I could only have one. I looked a bit shocked, but thanked her and said I hope they spread like hers. She busted out laughing and said she was only joking. "Take all you want!" She kept laughing as I dug them up with a little knife she loaned me. #gardenstories #provinciadiferrara #xiimorelli #gardenersaregenerous #violatricolor #castlememories (presso La Macchina Fissa) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdbYjP2IB9X/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
