Hope was not sure how she was going to go through with all of this, especially when she knew that a part of her heart was not in it. She wanted to be the BEST. She wanted to be the one that fixed all of the problems...but she also wanted to be the girl that had time to not have to worry about everyone else’s safety. Taking a breath, she looked at Alaric and she sat down in his office, shaking her head. “Sometimes I feel like I can’t do all of this.”

Hope didn’t FEEL like it was going to be okay, but Alaric’s words still calmed her down at least a little bit when he said it. Sometimes it felt like everything around her was just falling apart, and she didn’t know what to do. More than that, she hated that she was crying right now, because it was a weakness she hated to show...even if Alaric had seen it before. Perhaps for once she just needed to cry, and perhaps for once she needed to let someone else take care of her. Hard as it was for her to do, perhaps she needed to BELIEVE him too.

Alaric Saltzman fought hard against his darkness. When Jo was killed the magic she siphoned from him came back slowly. Since he kept her body and soon a soul inhabited it the magic kept a balance but once he let her go completely he was a vampire all over again. His temper was on a short fuse. His hunger was over the top. And when Caroline found out he couldn’t control himself, he grabbed her by her arm and pulled her into his study, locking the door behind them. “Sit down” he practically growled out as he pointed at a chair while the veins around his eyes protruded. “This wasn’t supposed to happen” he said as he took a seat across from her and tried to take a deep breath. “What am I going to do?”

Caroline had barely been given a chance to think before Ric had pulled her into the study and demanded that she take a seat. To say she had been worried about him would be a massive understatement. He wasn’t acting himself; hewas moody and hungry and impulsive, and frankly Caroline was afraid he was going to go off the deep end. She sat down, wanting to give him his chance to speak and not wanting to push him over the edge. “It’s okay, Ric. You lost someone you loved and it changed you. Well, in your case it literally changed you. But if you let me help, we can fix this. Or at least make it bearable.”

Her eyes widened. It had been years since the vampire dated anyone. She shook her head slightly before picking up her bag, "Ric, I don't know. I'm a vampire. I'm not human. I can't... I can't give you what you're looking for." Connection, she could provide that, but anything more, she probably wouldn't be able to. “I still have feelings for someone else...”
