     More than once Marty had accidentally startled      his friend by being in the lab already when he'd      arrived and it was as a courtesy that he called      out to (who he could only assume was) Doc be-      fore returning to the last minute, end-of-the-year      school work he found himself working on.

     It was probably the hair that got his attention. That      and Einstein's excitement. It wasn't like when Doc      came home to the lab-- more of a look, Marty, there's      someone new around kind of hop in his step that got      him to look up.
