—— “Jiwon and Sona get separated in a place that’s easy to get lost in. They need to reunite.’’
The crowd in Seoul is always an interesting experience. It’s something Jiwon has come to learn about her home here in Korea that’s different than that of hers back in Florida. Florida wasn’t as busy as Seoul and although she’d been living in Korea for nearly three years, these big crowds were still strange and exciting; even if a bit scary. She only ventured through the busy city when it came to work but for not much else. Everything she needed was close to her apartment. Since the news of her pregnancy several months ago her boyfriend would eagerly run out to get things from the city for her, since he’d be much quicker and worried about her even though she insisted she’d be just fine.
Even with her gentle encouragement these crowds seemed even more scary now that she was carring a child in her stomach. Jiwon turned to Sona, whom she was traveling with to a baby furniture store, her hand open to reach for another only for it to close around material foreign to her. The material in her hand belonged to a man’s jacket and he gave her a strange look to which Jiwon quickly apologized and let go.
Without wasting any time she looked around calmly, figuring the younger female would be nearby. To her dismay her companion was no where in sight. The area was very unfamiliar to Jiwon, hence why she asked Sona -apparently the baby furniture store was in an area near her school- so the model began to feel anxious. Reaching into her her purse Jiwon stepped to the side of the pavement while looking through her contacts for Sona, mentally hoping she would find her way to her again soon.
Sona didn’t often get chances like this one to get out easily. Even though she studied in Seoul, she never went out shopping much, or at least not as much as her friends used to do. It wasn’t like she didn’t want to, she just had less energy, less opportunities than her same aged friends. She was feeling fine when Jiwon had messaged her. Because of her friend’s pregnancy and because of her own health, she had little time to spend with the other, so she’d accept any possible opportunity.
Although she was never quite sure how to deal with babies or pregnant women and even though she was clueless about what her friend would need in the first place. She’d probably be not much help other than acting as an escort, in the most innocent meaning of the word. She understood the other’s fear of going around the busy streets, she’d be scared herself if she were pregnant. Besides, her friends usually didn’t enjoy her going out on her own, so they could basically help each other.
They were crossing a street and as usual, the crossing was a mess. From above it would probably look like a beehive, people pushed her away from her unnie, no matter how she tried to make her way back to her. Eventually she got dragged along a street with the flow of people, unaware of the fact that she’d lost Jiwon somewhere along the way. She took the first moment she could to sit down on a bench, quickly going through her purse to find her cell phone. Jiwon couldn’t be that far away, could she? She sighed, finally grabbing her phone from her bag and quickly dialling her friend’s number. “Come on, pick up the phone, yea..”
