/reads the text once, twice, as his heart skips a beat with the realization of what his friend just wrote. for a moment he doesn't know what to do and his fingers tremble so much he's not sure how he texted him back/[ text ] what...did you call me?

[text] ronnieeeee [text] i hate not being able to come and see you but i'm almost free. [text] i just have to finish one last mission and then i'll be able to come see you [text] it's away from the city so i won't have any way of being contacted but as soon as i'm finished i'll come and see you

/the ringtone is familiar and luhan is already smiling while picking the phone, ready to write a round of texts to his friend when he reads the first ones and frowns, upon seeing something unfamiliar about those - Baekho rarely talks about missions and how long they will last so that’s a first; it makes him a little worried and he’s so tempted to ask him what’s going on but knows that missions are things they’re never supposed to talk about/

[text] you better take care of yourself. or i’ll kick your butt if something happens.

[text] when you return i have to tell you something important.

[text] HA i did it. knowing how curious you are, i know you won’t take long to come back.

/he’s suddenly being swamped by exams and his parents’ stupid demands but still he has some time for himself - so that’s exactly where the message finds him - luhan having a time off after his English exam, having ice cream under the stupid sunny weather of Heukyang/ — /immediately a smile lights up his face as he shakes his head and reads the texts over and over before sending his friend an answer/

/was just heading to school that morning because even shapeshifters need to attend school once in a while specially because damn exams, when he sees the cellphone blinking its shining lights, warning him of a new message/ -- /nearly lets a set of bad words escape when he sees the picture and the message, simply gritting his teeth in response before writing to his friend, furiously/

/isn't entirely sure what to make of the other's reaction but Aron hasn't moved away so he stays where he is and simply waits, only looking in his direction when he speaks, running his tongue along his lips nervously./ Yeah..?

/doesn’t look at him even though he can feel his friend’s eyes on him paying attention to what he’s about to say and for a second he reaches out one hand, searching for Baekho’s, lacing their fingers together/ Would you be able to forgive someone if they did something bad to protect you…?

Only a little. /teases again, watching his friend's face./ Only when you stay away from me for too long and make me miss you.

/smiles, more to himself at his words because no matter what he always feels more confident when he has Baekho around him, not only because he’s used to say the right words but because he feels them aren’t biased, the other guy really cares about him/ I don’t like being away, you know that. /mutters between one chew and another/

Mm, something like that~ /teases with a laugh and steals another piece with a nod because it really is good./ We're almost there, be patient. /laughs again as he chews, leading out of the other end of the market and along the wharf towards a quieter area./

You hate me. /complains with a pout and silences, just eating quietly as they walk to this quieter place and he’s quite relaxed because despite the place being one he never been to, it’s comforting when he has his friend with him/

I don't eat just raw meat. /purses his lips in a slight pout before stealing a little more of the food with his other hand./ I just prefer it. Doesn't mean I won't eat this. /talks while he's chewing before finally swallowing and shaking his head./ It's a secret. And we can get cotton candy later if you're nice to me.

So you just eat raw meat around me to make me mad? /asks him with a slight smile and nudges him a little harder when he steals food despite his friend being the one that paid for it/ It’s good, isn’t it? /looks up even more curious/ Tell me already! You know how much I hate when you get all mysterious and hey you’ll have to pay for the cotton candy either way because I’m always nice to you, shut up.
