RE: The Vampire Threat

So my first attempts to extort information and assistance from Mr Peter Vincent ‘The Vampire Hunter’ have failed COMPLETELY! As I sit here my left arm is tightly bandaged - the reason for this? I covered myself in trans-4,5-epoxy-(E)-2-decenal, wandered into a dark alley coming face to face with a vampire in minutes, no doubt drawn by the scent. I then made a long cut on my forearm, held it out, and waiting for Mr Vincent to do his ‘rescuing the damsel in distress thing’. I was hoping he would kill the creature, that way I could observe the death process ad take samples.

But he didnt, he followed me, observed my actions, and happily turned away leaving me to the wolves. In fact he actually tried to reason with the vampire, he spoke to the man as if he was an alcoholic being offered a bottle of scotch. I turned tail and ran, but now I’m having to rethink the whole idea of vampires. Maybe there is a non violent solution? Maybe there is a way of reasoning with these creatures and coming to meet their need for blood either from animals or consensual donors? If they could be brought round to our side we may have access to a powerful new type of ally.

The whole thing has got me twisted up, and unfortunately Mr Vincent seems to be immune to my charm. In truth I actually respect the man, he has a strong sense of singular morality. A luxury sad not afforded to ourselves.

Anyway, I just needed to talk to someone about this business, its not nearly as simple a I hoped it would be. How are you? Is all well in your world?

It had been years since Rose had laid eyes in person on Peter Vincent.  Although when she had known him he had just been Pete..or Petey when she was feeling especially snarky.  Though now she found herself in the Hard Rock Casino, middle of the auditorium watching the man that had one time been her chubby best friend before puberty hit and he had grown nearly a foot.  If she didn’t now who he was she might have walked right by him on the street he looked so different.  Though his Gran assured her that it was mostly an act.  

Twelve was the age when he changed, both physically and emotionally. The break in that resulted in the death of his parents..she remembered holding his hand and struggling to understand the grief he was going through.  Being twelve it was hard to comprehend..she had never known her own Father..but she had been fond of his parents and she too felt their loss, though not as keenly as he had.

Though losing ones parents would change you..he became withdrawn..and eventually when they were 16 they had lost touch.  She still saw him at school but they ran with totally different crowds.  It had been nearly a decade since she had seen him, close 12 years since she had last spoken to him.  She remembered his last words to her, he told her that she deserved better than what she was settling for.  His name had been Jimmy Stones..and after three months she realized that Peter had been right.  

So caught up in her memories she realized that the show was over and people were on their feet applauding.  With her pass in hand, one she had paid a hefty sum for, she made her way to the front, trying to find a way backstage.  She didn’t expect much, maybe he would remember her..if not, she would now know that she didn’t have as much impact on his life as he did on hers.  And that was okay, the trip alone was fun.  She had never been to America and had seen many things on the way here.

There were several guards..or bouncers, she wasn’t quite sure, both of them looked at her pass, the golden VIP pass that she had purchased earlier in the day.  Their eyes went from the pass to her face and then the rest of her.  She arched an eyebrow as they snickered and ushered her back to a line, apparently he had many admirers..female admirers..well endowed..plastic female admirers.  

“Blimey...” She muttered and sighed, the longer she waited the more the knot in her stomach grew, the clammier her palms got, and the faster her heart beat. The line finally started moving, one at a time women were ushered in and thus far the longest interaction had lasted two minutes.
