@xnctafraid asked : am i.. dead?
there’s nothing to describe it. no words to explain the agony both bellamy and athena have been in since the doctor told them now it was up to octavia. if she fought for her life...if she really wanted it then there was hope she’d open her eyes. but if she wanted to die. truly wanted what all those pills had done to her body then they’d never see her again. never see her smile that could light up the whole world.
the first time a nurse caught athena curled up beside octavia in the hospital bed, careful of her sister’s wires and ivs of course, the nurse had tried to discourage any further nights together. but...athena couldn’t leave. she couldn’t lose her sister.
it’s when the sun begins to set on another day that gets athena. “tell me something, a good day when you guys were younger, before...” before me. her words falter and emerald hues shift back down to her pale sister. it takes bellamy a moment. at first athena’s sure he’s not going to answer her. it’s too painful to reminisce about the past when they’re not sure their sister has a future. finally he tells her about a game they played in the house. lilly pad’s. jumping from furniture to furniture when mom was gone for days. it was all fun and games until octavia cut herself on a sharp counter corner. athena can hear the emotion overtaking her big brother. would they have more time to make anymore memories with o?
am i....dead? ever attuned to octavia, even sleep deprived athena almost instantly shot up at the sound of her sister’s weak voice. emotions run thick in her throat as emerald hues take in octavia. she’s opening her eyes. looking around. the softness and confusion evident in her features. athena hadn’t been holding her breath but seeing octavia now? it’s like suddenly she can breathe properly again. “o...” her voice cracked, lips pressing against brunette strands over and over again until she reached octavia’s temple. “not if we could help it.” athena whispered, arms reaching to wrap around octavia the best she could while they both laid in the hospital bed. “i love you o, okay, i love you so much.”
