Vampillia + The Body - xoroAHbin
The Body have teamed up with yet another group of artists to create one hell of a bleak noise album. This time the duo have collaborated with a massive Japanese ensemble, Vampillia, who in “Godspeed You! Black Emperor” fashion consist of 11 band members and write ambitious, slow-building experimental songs that are more about establishing a mood or feeling than anything else. These four tracks paint pictures of post-apocalyptic wastelands, absolutely massive soundscapes that are meant to be played at a bone-rattling volume. It’s easy to write a bad noise/ambient album, it can sound corny or tedious if there’s too much drone or not enough variation in sounds. Fortunately xoroAHbin avoids these hazards with ease, I was drawn in with the first track immediately and the album never let go of my attention.
