hello there :)I was just wondering how do you edit sims faces on milkshape? i tried to look for a tutorial but i couldn't find anything! Please help
hiii! i don’t know if you have experience with milkshape or meshing in general but without it, the following is going to be way useless.
but yes i sort of followed this tutorial by HP but there’s some stuff either not mentioned or that just went over my head i guess because i ended up having to muddle through some stuff on my own. mainly that you export the GMDC from simpe as a 5gd by right-clicking the option in the main menu (NOT as a wavefront object from plugin view, i was so confused about that) and when milkshape asks if you want to create blend groups or correct skin weights that do not total 100% you say NO, NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT to both pop-ups or your milkshape will be filled with lovecraftian horrors.
beyond that, it’s pretty much what HP says in the tutorial. you edit the face the same way you would any other mesh in milkshape although i don’t think it’s safe to delete or try to add vertices, just move the existing ones around.
you have to import the modified files back into a face template file, though, not right back into the sim itself, because your changes will not show up that way. believe me, my lazy ass self tried. to have a sim with correctly-working genetics (i.e. whatever changes you want to make to the sim in milkshape carry through all ages/genders and pass on to potential offspring) you have to edit your sim’s face at toddler, child, TF, TM, AF, AM, EF and EM stages, recreating whatever changes you made to one on all of the others. you don’t have to get it exact (which i say because i get hung up on this more than anything else) just make sure that the child version of the sim doesn’t have a drastically different face from the adult version.
but! if you’re just going to be playing or picture-taking that one sim at that specific age and don’t intend to breed them or anything, then just editing the specific age you want is no big.
sooo, yeah. basically you do everything you would do when making a face template (for which there is a great tutorial here).
but also you torture yourself with milkshape.
and that’s it!
oh and the LOD15 file in your sim’s simpe file is for low-quality game play. those are the slightly less detailed face meshes that the game uses when you play on very low graphics settings. i use all high settings so i don’t ever bother with those. whether you do is up to you!
this was probably not helpful and i apologize in advance. also if there is an easier way to do this, i don’t know about it. sorry. :(
Hii :) I just want to say that i started following your blog not to long ago&& its just awesome >.<
Ah, thank you! ;u; It's really just a mass of reblogs with an occasional sassy comment from me, but I hope it proves to not be a major regret in your tumblr life. =w=
