Alternative DuroMax Generator Options
The DuroMax XP4400E is a light but powerful generator. It is able to produce up to 4,400 watts of electricity to startup electric devices and can continuously provide 3,500 watts of electricity to keep everything running. The XP4400E is powered with a 7 HP engine that is fuel efficient. Filling up the XP4400E’s 4 gallon fuel tank will allow the generator to run continuously, at 50% load, for eight hours. With a shipping weight of 116 lbs., this is one of the most easily moved DuroMax generators. The XP4400E is the only “E” series DuroMax generator that lacks an automatic idle control. To be fair, most 3,500 watt generators have no need for idle controls because the demands placed on them often comes close to their respective capacities. Like its bigger brother, the XP10000E, the DuroMax XP8500E is powered by a powerful 16 HP engine, features an automatic idle control and 10.5” never-flat tires. The XP8500E is capable of producing up to 8,500 watts of electricity to start appliances and will continually produce 7,000 watts of electricity to keep devices running. The XP8500E’s 7 gallon capacity fuel tank will allow the generator to run at 50% load for a period of eight hours. The XP8500E has a shipping weight of 249 lbs., which is comparable to the XP10000E series generator. Although smaller generators may be more affordable and easier to move, the XP10000E series generator is the only DuroMax model that includes a powerful 50 AMP 240 Volt NEMA 14-50R receptacle that is ideally used to plug into a transfer switch to provide electricity to entire homes. For this reason I always recommend the XP10000E to my friends and family, which is discussed in more detail on my personal DuroMax XP10000E review.
