Cloud shifted as Vincent moved, but remained pressed against the other. He was somehow always surprised when Vincent could read him as easily as the material placed in his hands in their down time. They had just grown that close over the years, had learned each other backwards and forwards and inside out. But Vincent’s ability to read him even when he thought he was being sneaky or sly or hiding it well was infallible.

He could lie, say it would save money or something, but there was no point. Their relationship was... an enigma in and of itself. Neither of them seemed to really know what they were doing; just did what felt right. Both had a history and a tendency to run from their problems, but in those rare moments, they sought out each other and it was truly something to behold.

“I’m... I’m fine.” A hand raised and slipped around Vincent’s arm. “My mind is just doing that thing again and I just want to be close to you.”

Late Night Affection

Includes: Vincent & Nero Length: 443 words. Inspirational Song: The Corpse Bride Piano Duet. Anon Inspired/Requested: Yes. Synopsis: The youth is unable to sleep due to a storm and thus occupies his time with silent admiration.

Thunderous weather had rolled in from beyond the summit of the mountains, billowing clouds looming overhead in drastically uncomfortable tones of darkness, casting heavy shadows unto the ground. Trees and foliage became silhouetted in the vacancy of natural light, animals scampering toward nests or burrows in fear of the impending downpour cast from the heavens. Rumbles overhead echoed, stretching for miles around to warn of the forthcoming rain, purging the ground of impurities and replenish the soil; Mother Nature’s gift of life now tumbling from flashes within the sky. Lightning. Pastel colored eyes stared forward, listening to the raging storm. Warm curled within blankets and the close presence of the elder male, the youth was surprised he could not sleep; comfort was at a desirable level, safety not a concern. Perhaps it was the audio of the storm that was preventing his consciousness from shutting off once more, mind whirring with thoughts he would have preferred remained within the recesses of his mind. An elongated exhale of breath was forced out of his nostrils, slipping his mutated arm from beneath the pillow to use its comfortably blue light to see in the darkness between the violent flashes of lightning. Fingers flexed gently as he rolled onto his back, and then the opposite side he had been resting upon previously. Vincent. Eyes scanned the elder’s face illuminated softly by blue light, heart steadily rising in rhythm within his chest; he looked so restful, peaceful even and the smile that crossed Nero’s face simply because of that sight was genuine, heartfelt. Humane fingers untangled themselves from within the sheets to rise up, brushing knuckles so gently over the softened complexion of Vincent’s cheek; ever careful not to wake him but affectionate in his gestures, regardless. “I love you-“ A dare of a whisper, almost silent and inaudible but oh, did he feel so very much better for being able to release such words into the open. Each movement was slow, steady so not to wake the other; sitting himself up to observe the cold confines of the cave. It lasted but only a few moments, instead laying himself back down to prop his head up on a hand, eyes filled with absolute admiration as he merely watched Vincent draw in and release breath. Lips connected with the corner of the other’s jaw; feather-light so not to wake but truly, he could not resist. Finally settling back down, Nero curled himself as close as he could making sure the blankets were covering the both of them. Indeed, it was now much easier to fall into a restful sleep, the nightmare of a storm still raging outdoors.

Dante pushed off the wall, pushing his red coat past his hips, revealing the two guns placed in their holsters, almost as if a silent warning. He didn’t plan to use them, but if it came to a show down, he wouldn’t hesitate.

A few steps forward, slowly, but confident. Almost as if putting on a show for the man, arms outstretched. “Coming in the front was too easy. You would have stopped me before I stepped foot in here. By the way, nice frozen chick. Good conversation piece.”

His eyes closed, a small smile, or perhaps something closer to a smirk, adorned his lips. “I don’t particularly want anything, my friend. Just curious to see the person my nephew has been sneaking around with as of late.”

//TBF the DMC fandom has been pretty toxic for a while now. Ya’ learn to live with it; or more, I’ve distanced myself from most of it, haha.

I acutally love nero and vincents relationship because theyre both really complex gus with ther own issues and working through that and getting to know each oter in that way is all part of being in love and accepting it all and i think you and vincent mun are doing an amazing job of exploring that.
