Woupelaille, we are a little late, i'm sorry, thank you for your patience ! I'm just gonna say that my brain's been pretty obstructive, and when I voiced to my spouse I was feeling rather uninspired for my rotation, they half jokingly suggested video game music. My first reaction was to dismiss it cause I dont listen to video game music, really, but then I started thinking, and I figured surely I can find 5 songs !
here they are :3
As usual : Song titles link to individual mp3 file download. Link to download all songs conveniently zipped up for you at the bottom of the post.
Evanescence - The Chain (Fleetwood Mac cover)
This was actually the last song I gathered for this, and ngl, I considered Gackt's Redemption prior to chosing this one lmao. But fuck Gackt, and I like covers, so here you go ! Tbh it would be a mid cover, but the layered vocals from the entire band, at the end, makes it worth it !
What's the link with video games ? Well :
The Chain was a single released in 2019, promoting Gears 5, then was a bonus track on certain editions of the following album, The Bitter Truth, in 2021
Jim Cook - Gerudo Valley
I was gonna upload the old 2008 version of this, but while documenting, I learned that he had made an updated version in 2012, and i found that his skill had improved a lot in 4 years, so updated version it is !
Gerudo Valley was the opening track of the self-released Zelda Metal Vol. III album, in 2012
Jim Cook also has (had ?) a band with some released on bandcamp, in case you're curious :)
London Philharmonic Orchestra/Koichi Sugiyama - Endless World
This one is a medley of a couple tracks from Dragon Quest II, the first part being one of the worldmap music, which has been a favourite ever since i heard the Dragon Quest Builders II iteration, in the Moonbrooke chapter !! My not yet spouse, at the time, sent me the files for that boxset, back when, so I figured since they suggested the theme, I should go with something from it :3
The Endless World medley is from the 2003 Symphonic Suite "Dragon Quest" Complete CD-Box
Machinae Supremacy - The Great Gianna Sisters
I came accross this either back when I found a, basically, Not-Dance Dance Revolution to play on my pc and downloaded a pack of songs, or was playing something similar on my keyboard on like newgrounds, so yes, back in the DDR days, i suppose x). It also introduced me to Machinae Supremacy, actually.
Now I knew this was a cover of a song from an obscure game, at the time, but I didnt realize the original game was a Mario rip off with an oddly good soundtrack lmao. The IP since then had releases on Nintendo consoles and i think its funny.
The Great Gianna Sisters was on the self-released Arcade album, from 2002
xStOrMeRx1 - The Forest of Brambles
This was sent to me, back then, by a friend, and was definitely taken directly from Newgrounds lol. This is also where I got my "forest of rambles" tag from on my main blog ehehe
Also, the original download for the file only has 128kbps quality, but I kept the namefile and the metadata intact, as a treat :)
The Forest of Brambles was self-released on Newgrounds in 2005
