HI omg im so excited to find this blog bc i have the exact same google maps fascination but with greenland. you've given me the idea to make a blog for it haha. what got you into this? ive started having a massive obsession with greenland because of mine. also do you ever get photo spheres just not working? i used to think they were like "phantom" ones but i went to one from one of your posts and that one doesn't work when i click on it so idk
Hi! That’s so cool! Yeah, a few years ago when I was exploring stuff with Google Maps, I was reminded that there are scientific and military bases on Antarctica, and decided to see if I could see any from the satellite view. I decided to turn on the options that show where you can see street view and photo spheres, and was excited af that I could take a walk through Antarctica (I think I randomly started at Mcmurdo Station). So I was so intrigued and I just started exploring all over Antarctica with satellite view, street view, and photo spheres. Antarctica is so beautiful and every once in a while I find something super weird and unexpected like that under-sea-ice observation tube.
And yeah, I find photo spheres that are just black like the picture got deleted or won’t load. I also came across this weird one in Arizona that makes it look like you’re in a purple cage in a dark room: Here’s the link to it on my main blog: X
