Just take your time. Family comes first. I hope your sister is okay. We'll wait as long as we need to
thank you. she's healing very nicely and she was much more alert today.
"I missed you."
"Have you?" Levi mused, raising a brow. "I was under the impression that my absence would go unnoticed."

Amaris stood where she once sat on the floor and watched him go. “Levi! Wait!” But he was gone. And she was alone. She sunk back down the floor, staring at the empty space around her. She just hoped her parents and brothers were safe, wherever they were. And that Levi would come back in one piece. Her immediate family was her whole world…that is until she met him…
For now she just sat in silence, picking at the floor next to her gun he insisted she had.
Levi kept his weapon at the ready, his eyes scanning the area with only one mindset: if it moves, shoot it. He had learned a long time ago not to even bother trying to friend anyone who wasn't a zombie. That just brought more trouble. And they had enough to deal with.
At his first zombie sighting, he shot it right in the head. However, he didn't think, of all things, to look immediately behind him and just about got himself bitten. Now more alert, he trekked on with new purpose. Not only get back with food, but get back unharmed.
To him, Amaris' safety was top priority and he had to keep that in mind. Entering not the first but second grocery story he happened upon, the first thing that hit his nose was the rotting meat in the back of the store. But that kind of smell kind of wafted in the air as it was, so he had the ability to ignore it.
He grabbed one of the few shopping baskets left and looked through the ailes and on the floor for anything. However, no such luck up front. Which meant he had to go into the back. Worry plagued him, since no type of doorway really locked out the menaces beyond, thanks to the open area where semis loaded and unloaded cargo. But I have to do this for Amaris. I don't have a choice.

♘: Together with candles when the power is out
This is the first time they'd ever met. Levi had planned it to a T-- get her set up here (though all he had to offer was a couch), show her to a few sights, eat out at a nice restaurant, then come back and watch one of the classic movies they both liked. He wanted her first day here to be memorable...
And in his defence, there was no way she could actually forget this day whatsoever.
A powerful storm had engulfed the whole city, so their impromptu movie night was kind of cancelled. They could have watched it on his laptop, but he didn't want to make her uncomfortable by sitting too close to one another.
"Sorry," he muttered under his breath, searching with just the light of his phone for the spare candles he kept for moments just like this one.
He heard her giggle in the background, and his hurt pride went down a couple more notches. "Why? You can't control the weather."
"I know it's just... This turned out a lot different in my head. You know, you being here. And if I had anticipated something like this, the storm I mean, I would have rescheduled." Finally, he caught sight of three candles and immediately lit them with his cigarette lighter, setting them up on the coffee table in his small living room. "How's this? Are you alright? Comfortable, I mean?"
She nodded, wrapping herself more in his big, old high school varsity jacket. "I'm perfectly fine, thanks to you."
Nodding, he moved to sit beside her-- but as said before, not too close-- and placed his hands in his lap. "So.... Other than the storm, did you enjoy your first day here? I know it's not much but--"
"Levi, even with the storm, today was perfect." At his quizzical expression, she went on: "I got to spend my whole day with someone I've known for literally years and met for the first time in person. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't pay much attention to anything else but you."
He let this all sink in, then he pressed a hand to his head. "I'm a fucking idiot." He was so worried about the things she could see, he forgot that the only thing she came to see at all was, indeed, him. As the whole reason for flying her out here was to simply see her. "Truly an asshole. I'm sorry--"
Catching him off guard, she moved in close and pressed her shoulder against his. "Don't apologize. Let's just listen to the rain."
But as the light outside got darker and darker, and as the sound of rain got heavier and heavier, the only sound he listened for was that of her soft, lulling breath. I worried for nothing.
Long Distance * AU w/ xthepromisex
Levi could not distinguish just how long ago he'd first met her. It was through some stupid forum website where he'd trash-talked her about her pretty much being an idiot with her opinion-- which went straight to PMs.
And it was through those PMs that they figured out they were both pretty much little shits with big opinions and excellent choices in music.
A couple years later, Skype started to get a lot of recognition, and it was also through this that they saw each other for the first. Levi wasn't sure what he'd expected, but that wasn't it. She wasn't it. He anticipated the usual type of girl that people expected to see on the internet-- bigger, paler, plainer.
She was none of those things. And even if she was, Levi would still think she looked perfectly. But he'd never told her that. That shit was too weird to say aloud.
Now he impatiently, for the past three days in fact, waited for her to get online. School had started back up for her-- the old man long graduated and thus didn't know the struggle-- so she wasn't online as much, as was the usual routine. But it made their chance meetings that much better, when they hadn't talked for a long time. Definitely gave them more to talk about.
And it gave the grumpy old man an excuse to miss her. But as stated before, he wouldn't say so, not now, not ever.
