It’s Ash Wednesday. Your sacrifice and penance should be sincere and made in secret. Then you receive your reward. Go to church!
I’m Catholic and give so much of a fuck all of the time but I’ve learned to be a horny freak about my faith instead of the desiccated bodies of my beloved admired friends the saints
GOOD MORNING MAAM ITS ANOTHER BLESSED DAY FROM YHE LORD!! If you’re not getting snowed out like me go to church!
HAPPY LAST SUNDAY OF EPIPHANY. PREPARE YOUR SOULS FOR LENT !! Go to church today!
It’s funny when some Protestants think they have prayer more right than like 1500 years of Christians who found repetition good for focus; pre rosary and pre orthodox prayer rope, they were using stones. It’s not about being heard better, I don’t think that’s what’s being discussed here
1) you are straight
2) they are exvangelicals largely, who like the aesthetics of catholicism, who have suffered deep shames, frankly I’m done being annoyed about that
3) again, you are straight
Happy last Sunday of Christmas. Today's sermon was about the contrast between our OT/Psalm readings and our Gospel reading. A triumphant return home/a restoration of the home in joy vs the flight from home in terror and a return home under the fear of imperialism and police control. Yeshua of Nazareth, the known shithole, the city from which nothing reputable and loved came. Born into poverty, conceived outside the marriage of his young mother. My priest talked about how these are the people we are meant to see Christ in: those rejected, scorned, erased, colonized and subjugated. Not the pristine reputations.
I was praying after the Eucharist with my forehead to the pew and was struck by one of the most potent images of imperial/colonial humiliation and torture of our time, the poor hooded prisoner of Abu Ghraib with wires lashed to his outstretched hands. How similar to Christ all of them were and how we as Americans are like the Romans. The men beaten and who suffered and who died and were photographed on ice with our smiling soldiers. And I remember the Holy Innocents of Gaza, God help us. When this empire falls I hope it is fast and humiliating and a lesson to all, and may our memory be erased in due time.
