without another word, he's passing over his rations for the day. it isn't much; just a bit of rice and beans that they'd managed to find. the group were conserving -- not giving much, at all, so that they wouldn't run out too soon.

simmons' only memory of grif being a stupid selfie of the two of them taken before the apocalypse
and he starts carrying it around in his pocket at all times, and after a while, the picture begins getting worn and weathered with age and mistreatment, but simmons doesn't care
it's hard to find anything simmons really cares about, anymore

simmons not outwardly showing any reaction on the realization because tucker just found wash and tucker is happy and that's good tucker happy is good this is what simmons has wanted this entire time
so he offers to be the first one to go out looking for supplies, and uses that time to absolutely lose his mind. to destroy everything and anything -- to viciously kill as many walkers as possible, tearing them apart with his bare hands and screaming to the heavens
simmons going back to camp covered in far more blood than necessary, a far look in his eye, and a shitload of useful supplies -- because that's all he's good at, anymore
right now, tucker just had to concentrate on keeping simmons alive. for grif. if there was one thing he’d give his life for right now, it’d be to get him back to grif, and that was enough to give him drive.
