Hi! I have a couple questions to ask. 1. Where should I put your house downloads? Would it be the mod folder? 2. How do you make your homes so pretty?
Hello! First, I’ve shared a couple TS4 lots as packages, and those can go in the Mods folder. But I—and most people—share the majority of lots as Tray files. For those, you need to unzip the folder and drop all the included files into the Tray folder.
As for the second, I’ve answered a lot of questions about building and linked some of them on my Asks & Answers page; you might find something useful in there. It’s a broad question so it’s a bit hard to know what to say... But the tip that first comes to mind—for anyone wanting to build, really—is always to look at pictures of real-life homes—whether exteriors, interiors, floor plans, landscaping or whatever. I do it too: I think I mentioned recently in another ask that I have more than five hundred reference/inspiration pictures of exteriors—and we all know that I love taking creepshots of interesting buildings I see in the wild! I explain this a bit more in this particular post from my Asks & Answers page (and included a couple pictures to demonstrate how I often work from reference pictures), but basically, in my opinion proportion is the single aspect that makes the most difference in how realistic and attractive a Sim house is, and the best way to get an eye for realistic proportions is to simply look at architecture in real life.
Let me know if you have any questions that aren’t answered in those posts! I’m always happy to talk building.
