The Ring Cycle

I could see how the “they’re just friends” interpretation could be seen as valid... until I watched The Ring and Return of the Valkyrie. Brunhilde is explicitly jealous because she loves Gabrielle, and then there’s the whole soulmate thing and Gabrielle being woken by Xena’s kiss, which, especially with Gabrielle being overgrown by brambles, is definitely a reference to fairy tales’ true love’s kiss.

I wonder, was there a huge “OMG my ship is canon” reaction back then?

Amazon lands? There's nothing to be gained there. Not all gains are showed on a map. I'm talking about glory. The name 'Livia.' What would the world say if you were to conquer the fierce Amazons … for kicks. Or, even better, sold them as slaves. See, I know this Persian warlord, Gurkhan. He has a taste for the exotic. What happened? Livia took them to market, couldn't make a dinar. She threw them overboard. I mean, she tossed them like spoiled cargo. They still had their shackles on.

A Friend in Need

You know what pisses me off? Xena’s spent years doing horrible things, and then years and years righting those wrongs, and the thing she can only right by dying? Was a freaking accident. She defended herself against a bunch of people attacking her, and maybe in her grief she didn’t think of the fact that she was in a town made of easily flammable materials on a windy day, and THAT is why she has to die?

Also, you’d think she’d have learned not to hide things from Gabrielle by now.
