#2424 - Bityla defigurata

First described by Francis Walker in 1865 and originally named Xylina defigurata. Later, Edward Meyrick placed this species in the genus Bityla and synonymised Bityla thoracica with this species. You probably recognise both those people from previous posts.

A Noctuid endemic to the main two islands of New Zealand, where the caterpillars feed on Muehlenbeckia australis and Muehlenbeckia complexa.
