Korea Trip 2015: Day 23 - Xyloid
There's this place on the 2nd level of the male saunas and it's like completely empty. And on that level, there's this spa made out of wood and it's like the perfect temperature. And on the ceiling are a few small windows where the sun shines in and it's really really nice. The strange thing is, there's no one ever on this level. Like there's actually no one else there. Legit. I don't know if we're not allowed up there or if people just don't know about it or something but there's just no one there. Of course, I didn't mind. It was really quiet and lovely so I stayed there for an hour or so.
Afterwards, we grabbed our stuff, paid, and then left. Total cost? 17k won = ~17 AUD. Pree good. :) The time was around 10:30ish and we went to grab some brunch at I'Park mall (like right next to it). We had some Japanese food and it honestly tasted pretty rubbish. Like my expectations of food are pretty nonexistent. My ratings are like a boolean value: tastes-good = true | false. And yeah. It honestly didn't taste very good which was quite disappointing.
We met up with Olivia and Sowon at Myeongdong to do some shopping and while Olivia and Sharon ran off somewhere (I think they went to a cat cafe), the others helped me out and gave me tips on what looked good and what not. If there's one thing I learnt, clothes shopping is friggin hard. Oh and that nothing fits me. Jen was sending pictures to her trendy bestie Alex for his opinion and he was basically like "Dude. You have two options. Either get big, or get a tailor to make clothes for you.". That wasn't very reassuring. :( I bought a shirt or two but nothing too fancy.
Afterwards we went to this place in Dongdaemun which was really weird. It was like half department store-y and half street market-y. Like you could walk around (indoors) and look at things, try them on a bit. But you could also haggle it down. There was this coat that I liked and the shop keepers were making conversation and trying to get us to buy it. He thought I was going out with Jen, and once he discovered that wasn't the case, he started almost hitting on her. He wanted a ridiculous amount of money for the coat but as soon as Jen realised he was lying about the quality of the coat he dropped it a little lower to 140k. But not only did I not want to pay that much, I honestly didn't think that it was worth it. When I declined the offer he started dissing the clothes which I was wearing at the time (like obviously I don't dress well which is why I'm out shopping to begin with) and basically started calling us scrubs with no money. We left at that point.
We walked around a bit more and found the identical coat at another store. The lady there had a much more reasonable starting price (I think it was like 80k or something) and I purchased it after managing to haggle it down to 55k. I was pretty happy with this purchase. :)
We met back up with Olivia and Sharon and had Samgyuksal for dinner. This was going to be the last time that we'd all be with each other since we were leaving tomorrow. After dinner we were catching the subway home and before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye to Jen forever. :'( It was really soon, it was a quite unexpected. Hugs went around (we shared like a 5 second one), the doors closed, and that was pretty much the end of it. Probably the last time I'll ever see Jen. Sad.
When we arrived home I was dead tired and should have probably either slept or packed but I did neither and talked to Jen instead. The time is almost 1am and my suitcase is empty. My flight leaves at 4pm tomorrow but I need to get to the airport early. If I'm not gonna pack, I should probably sleep instead.
