So...That was quite episode! I mean...My feels! How broken Nene and Miette was after their lost.How Ash was so supportive towards Serena! Also episode was amazingly animated!

And about Serena...She’s closer her dream than ever before. I’m happy about it, but I’m also little bit sad...Serena could really win...but if she wins...What happens then? Does she need to leave Ash, Bonnie and Clemont?  Kinda I’m hoping for Serena to win, but at same time I hope that she doesn’t... (Please don’t hate me for this)

Thank god there were no garbage theme rounds since they’re always duds and just skipped right to the performances, LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE. Why the hell didn’t they go with the tournament format before is beyond me because ITS SO MUCH BETTER AND I ACTUALLY FEEL LIKE THE CONTESTANTS ARE COMPETING AGAINST EACHOTHER. It still wasn’t super amazing but it was way more stimulating and the characters got to shine more. Like christ man you shouldn’t have waited for the final tournament to do this.

Also ALL THEM CAMEOS man, of course I expected to see Tierno/Trevor and Sycamore but KORRINA AND GOODRA ALSO? I’m glad we got a call back to the both of them but holy shit did I not expect that, it’s very welcome. Here’s hoping this is foreshadowing for GOODRA’s comeback.

I really like all the call backs and tie ins to Serena’s character arc. I mean they make sure to hit ALL the major points and I really enjoyed that. You have Serena talking with Grace and her beginnings as a Ryhorn Racer, her wins and losses up to that point, the promise her and her team made on Braixen’s stick, her first meeting with Shauna and discovering Showcases, and so on. I may not be blown away by this goal but I’ll always be appreciative of how nicely they tied into her character and the growth she received from them.

Miette and Nene went down to my non-shock but what caught me off guard was the fucking TEARS. I DID NOT NEED TO SEE THAT, I DID NOT ASK FOR THAT. If anything that makes them getting booted out hit even harder. I wish Nene didn’t have to lose to Jessie of all people and it makes me mad that someone who had only one key (and got two off screen I guess ) was able to beat her, sigh. I’m still bitter of XY’s rival treatment don’t mind me.

Animation was still on point, lots of pretty colors and movement as usual, not much else to say there. The preview of the next episode was very vague, not a lot of information and we only really see Aria and Serena performing and NOTHING ELSE. That’s very suspicious…

I was pleasantly surprised with this episode as I felt more invested then that disaster of a last Tripokalon, I’m actually looking forward to see how this all ends next week

Having multiple performers on stage simultaneously during the free performance is a huge improvement to the Tripokalons, it just feels more like an intense competition when you’re actually faced with your rivals. So while it’s unfortunate they didn’t do that before at least they’re doing it for the part that counts the most. Animation was next level again, Jessie’s expressions were especially great. Tough luck Nene and Millefeui, tho I like how Serena was just like “That’s the kind of world this is.” Savage lol. The scene of her inheriting their will was good though, best case scenario it leads to her ACTUALLY winning but we’ll see. Serena’s talk with Grace, her flashbacks of obtaining her 3 keys and the various cameos I enjoyed a lot. No matter what you think about these competitions they always do nice things with Serena’s character in their episodes. Whereas Ash’s Gym Battles for example are entertaining on their own right but don’t effect his character at all most of the time, just cause the format is so settled down at this point.
