AU S&S How did their first date go? Where was it?
Yeku sat nervously at the table, desperately trying to slow her breathing. In one two three four, out one two three four. Thrae wouldn’t have asked Yeku if she didn’t mean it, but that didn’t mean she could calm her mind of the thoughts apparently. Had she over dressed? Or was she under dressed? Was going out for dinner right, or could Yeku have given a better suggestion what they should do? What would they talk about; they nearly did everything around one another for the past two years. Raising a hand to cup the side of her face, she rested her elbow on the table and sighed. Thrae was technically her boss, wasn’t that wrong too? So many factors she hadn’t thought of before, but like the blushing buffoon she was, Yeku had accepted Thrae’s offer of a date.
With a quick glance around, Thrae was still no where to be seen. Instead Yeku’s eyes drifted over all the well dressed patrons eating their meals, men in light dress shirts and pants, women in short summer dresses or trending fashion to try and beat the heat. Yeku was wearing her usual yukata with a long skirt underneath, cooking herself slightly under the hot lominsan sun, today however the fabric was a bright white with red patterns and the skirt could be discarded if she got unbearably hot. Hair tied in a tight bun behind her head, bangs framing her face.
“Hey, sorry I’m late Yeku, the ferryman slept in and threw off my day.”
That soft tender voice, Yeku mentally cooed as it rang gently through her horns. She wasn’t sure when Thrae had started to become the only thing she thought about, but it had definitely crept up on her and sunk it’s claws in. Looking up from the table, Yeku met the warm smile with her own and shook her head. “It’s alright, it gave me some time to relax.” A lie if she ever said one, one Thrae would probably see through as she always did, but also realize the intention. Yeku didn’t want their date to stop on account of some silly nervous thoughts.
As Thrae gave a nod of thanks back and started to seat herself, Yeku couldn’t help but swallow hard as she admired the woman dressed in a fashionable dress shirt and pants, wearing them like they were made for her. The white top accented her chest and collar bone with its top two buttons undone but the collar itself was pressed and sharp, the sleeves were rolled up neatly to reveal strong arms, and overall it wasn’t too tight or loose, just right. The black pants hugged her hips, and probably her rear, but went straight down without wrinkles like any well kept piece of clothing, the odd pattern swirl encorperated down the side to give it a small splash of color. Yeku kept her mouth shut as she swallowed hard while Thrae sat across from her with that bright smile she always seemed to wear, it was infectious and left Yeku smiling bashfully back.
“Did you order already?” Thrae was trying to ask how long she had been there without saying it.
“Y-Yes, I ordered a starter for us both.” Yeku couldn’t even meet Thrae’s eyes, much too embarrassed, but also knowing the woman would figure out the order before it reached the table by the twisted smile that was trying to hide her excitement behind.
Yeku could see the intent to interrogate melt away through her bangs as Thrae’s nose caught a whiff of something familiar.
“Salad, both topped with chopped vegetables and one with cloves. Enjoy, I’ll be back for your main course order once you finish.” The waiter placed two bowls on the table, the one with cloves infront of Thrae who Yeku couldn’t properly read the expression for. It looked like Thrae was frozen, that was until she picked up her fork and started to dig into her meal happily. Yeku’s tension began to melt away as she watched Thrae enjoy herself, letting out a small giggle here and there as she observed Thrae savor the food and prized flowers.
By the end they were sipping wine over an empty plate that once held a perfectly cooked aldgoat steak, and baby baked popotoes. A meal at The Bismarck had been a great idea, Yeku mused as she sat back in the chair to let her food settle, Thrae busy telling her a story.
The words seemed to melt away as Thrae spoke, and while Yeku enjoyed the stories, she was much too busy silently admiring the radiant woman infront of her. Thrae had a strength and kindness about her, with honesty and loyalty that almost made her glow, a beautiful person inside and out. The thought baffled Yekulan; that such a woman could possibly be attracted to a tiny aether mutated Au Ra with no recollection of most her life. In fact, she sounded like the least likely candidate. Yet somehow, some way, Thrae had asked her out tonight; she felt like the luckiest woman in Eorzea right now, almost wanting to pinch herself and make sure it wasn’t a dream, but not wanting to wake up either.
Thrae was waving a hand infront of her face, loudly questioning her presence.
“Mhm! What?! Oh, I’m sorry, I -I must have gotten caught up in a thought.” Yekulan’s cheeks were bright red as she looked around, thankfully the rest of the guests had tapered off, and the cool air surrounded them on the upper decks while waiters and waitresses started cleaning up the tables. Glancing back at Thrae, she was greeted with an amused look on her face.
“We should head out. The ferry to the ship likely headed back already, may I rest at your house for the night?”
So proper at times, Yeku mused. “Of course.”
