Sprite: A Clove Call
Yeku carefully treaded across the forest floor on the balls of her feet as she silently enjoyed her trek through the flora. She seemed to never grow tired of the Shroud and it’s gifts. Above all she helped protect it and the elementals, a tradition she had picked up from the Gridanians and personally taken to heart. To be part of the forest meant she should be one of it’s greatest protectors, like the elementals once were, should it not? Today however there was little to do, she could only hear the Elementals from so far and the Shroud was massive, but they were awfully quiet, almost making her worry something was wrong and they weren’t telling her.
Stopping at her resting place, a hole in the dirt under a great tree, Yeku sat down and swung her feet into the miniature pit as she sat on the edge. There wasn’t much to do honestly; she had already mended sick plants, helps young plants grow, made flowers bloom so the plants could bear fruit once pollinated, helping the pollinated plants bear their fruit, she had even helped with tiny favours for the odd child like elemental, but without a cry for help she was out of things to do. Yeku figured it would be best to sleep for a few days until she was needed, hopping into the waist deep hole and sitting down so only the top of her head was at ground level. Using magick, Yeku successfully covered herself in dirt as she had done many times before when she desired rest.
Another trickle of aether left for the bush of leaves that was her hair above ground, littering it with various flowers; Yeku enjoyed changing her appearance and “decorating” the brush depending on her mood. Glowing white circles on her bark eyes faded as she drifted off to sleep, the tree her hole was under groaning from the influx of aether she released in such a relaxed state. The last thing she heard was the Elemental in the tree cooing happily at the gift Yeku had given it as she fell into a slumber.
The rest was interrupted however, several days shorter than expected as she felt an odd rubbing sensation against her “hair”. White iris’ came alive as she grew sober, trying to figure out what was happening; if she could safely hide, or if she would have to protect herself. After a long wait Yeku was growing frustrated, whatever was disturbing her slumber wasn’t leaving and kept rubbing against her leaves above ground. Right when Yeku thought it was finally over, the rubbing started again.
Enough! At this rate there wouldn’t be leaves or flowers still attached!
Yeku stood up abruptly in agitation, roots from the tree and shrubs clinging to her body along with clumps of dirt entrapped in the tangled mess. Not caring to brush off the debris, her head twisted left and right looking for the cause of being woken, abruptly landing mid sweep on a bear with an odd red marking of fur atop its head. Yeku took a short step back in her hole to space herself just a little more from the creature in her surprise. She hated the idea of hurting a creature of the forest, hopefully it wouldn’t attack her and would go its own separate way. At the least it hadn’t tried eating her foliage, so that was a good sign. After a long pause from both parties, a single hand was slowly stretched out towards the animal to see if it was afraid, curious, or aggressive towards her.
