In the newest chapter, Chiara saying that she often forgets that MC is a legilimens is so meta because I forget about that constantly 😆

I can’t really relate personally, but I know that many people do – probably including the writers.

Also, sorry for off-topic, but can I just say that this whole scene was rather… weird? Like, the previous chapter ended with MC telling Corey that they’re a Legilimens, and they want to use it on Zenith.

But then, in this chapter, they act as if this idea just occurred to them?

Like… what? I dunno, I feel like, normally, it’d go more or less like this:

Chiara: MC! You said you have an idea to get information from Zenith?

MC: Yes, but I want to try talking to her first.

*they try and fail to talk to Zenith, just like it happened in the game*

MC: Just like I thought… Well then, I guess I have to use my Legilimency after all.

Chiara: “That’s right… You’re a Legilimes. Sometimes I forget.”

Is it just me or it’d sound way more natural than that weird performance done by MC with stomping and pouting? I swear, this kid gets more and more annoying with each chapter…

Also also, I’m still disgusted by how unprofessional St Mungo’s is and that MC is allowed anywhere close to Zenith. Seriously, I’m usually not morally bothered by the use of Legilimency, but that poor woman is traumatized enough already, and she shouldn’t be harassed like that while in a hospital.

Huh, what a coincidence... And I’m sure it’s just a coincidence... It definitely has nothing to do with the action that’s about to happen...

Okay. I’m sorry, but this whole insinuation is just stupid. The cursed CD was brought by Penny, and Penny got it from Madam Strout. Like... it was the reason why all three of them got cursed. Meaning that Burke probably had nothing to do with this stupid gift. Unless you want to tell me that Burke gave it to Madam Strout who gave it to Penny who brought it to Jacob. But it doesn’t really make sense, even if only because Strout seems to be higher in the hierarchy. So, why would Burke tell her to do something he was supposed to do himself? Moreover, why don’t we simply ask Madam Strout if she got the gifts from Burke?

Also, the logistics. Let’s go back to Y7Ch25.

Alright, so this is how this encounter went:

First of all, in what world it was rude? Fine, perhaps he wasn’t the nicest, but he definitely wasn’t “the rudest”. Especially that in the very same chapter, just one part earlier, we encountered this fucker:

Yes, I know you’re not supposed to run at the hospital and whatnot, but that’s not exactly a reason to yell at teenagers that you’re gonna “ban” them. His tone was way ruder than Burke’s. But hey, maybe it’s just me. Anyway, back to the case...

So, we search for clues with Talbott, and as soon as we’re done with that, we go to Jacob. And what we see there? Burke:

And Penny:

So... you’re telling me that Burke left the Janus Thickey Ward, found Madam Strout to give her gifts (including the cursed CD), then Madam Strout found Penny, and all of that, so... Burke and Penny ended in the same fucking room. Seriously, I can’t be the only one who thinks it simply doesn’t add up.

Long story short, I really don’t think that Burke was behind the laughing curse. In fact, I don’t think he’s a member of R at all - especially that he disappeared with Verucca. And I know I sound like a broken record with the Rogues theory, but I feel more and more confident that there’s simply another group besides R (and so Burke is associated with them, not with R). I’m actually planning to write an update to this theory, perhaps later this week.

Cool. What’s his name, though? Is his actual name “Healer Burke”? His legal name is “Healer Burke”? I’m asking because Moody suggested he might be Caractacus Burke. The problem is that Caractacus Burke should be about 140 years old at this point, and this guy:

... doesn’t look 140. It’d also mean that he started working at St Mungo’s at age 125, which is quite... unusual, I imagine.

Also, perhaps it’s just me, but Miriam Strout was particularly annoying in this chapter. I mean, it’s not even that she had a hard time believing MC. I think she didn’t give a single fuck about what MC said.

I don’t know, maybe it's just implication that her memories of Burke were forged or something. But there’s something weird about her either way. And I simply really don’t like her.

Also, I’m sorry, but I have to say it: Verucca is hot. I know she’s like at least in her seventies, but... damn. She looks AMAZING for her age.
